Age Related ??? I don't care about the color of my bike

I did screw up, meant to post in general discussion,

I see topics on bike color, matching this and that, I don't care! When I was a kid riding moto cross bike, stingrays, and even 10 speeds, I was always concerned about the color of my bikes. Been riding since 4 with training wheels but not sure if I picked out the color of the bike or not.

In my late 20's when I actually started riding more as a fitness hobby, I was concerned with the color of my bikes. Through the 30's, then early 40, now in the 50's, I really don't care anymore. I had one bike in my 40's that I really dug the paint job. After that bike was toast, I haven't cared much about color.

I have a somewhat burgundy bike, a silver bike, a white bike, and a blue bike, but ask me if I care what colors they are, I don't I have them because they fit. There have been many times that I am on the bike when someone mentioned my bike but I had to look down to see which one I was riding.

Is it an age thing? Like hitting the 50's, one just rides doesn't care about matching his bike shoes to his derailleur pulleys? Or is it that with age and having done 100,000+ miles on the bike as a sport, he just doesn't care any longer about color as long as the bike fits and runs smooth?

I clean my drivetrain, make sure it is clean and runs smooth but I really don't care about color anymore. Am I the only old guy who doesn't care about color?

My question was, does anyone else care about the color of their bike? Pay attention.

Generally I don't care about color. But I must say the marigold to radioactive red color scheme on the Marlin 7 caught my eye, so I bought it. I wear my work clothes while riding MTB, Carhartt.

Just trying to make conversation. If you don't like a topic, simple, move on. Not that hard, not sure why so many posters like to start friction for those who actually attempt posting topics. Guess it helps prove your worth on the cycling forums.

I do. If you dont like the color along with the fit and function, are you going to ride it?

I am, as mentioned in the OP. I enjoy the ride for the ride, smooth and clean. Any color.

Me too, but it's always nice to enjoy the look of the bike as well.

I cared about the color when I was 12, but not since. I'm in my 60s. If there's a choice I might choose one over the other, but I can't ever recall having a choice. So it's lucky that the only things that matter are the fit, the quality of components given my chosen price and how well the gearing works for me. I have black, two gray, a red, a blue and a green and white. Don't really like the green and white, but it doesn't have an iota of effect on my enjoyment or the amount I ride it.

Same with cars, fwiw, in all respects.

I should add that looking at bikes, I think they all look nice. Would even be hard to choose a color.

Color is critical. I paid extra for a Trek Project One bike in just the right color

Red bikes are faster. So when all your friends ride away from you because you are on a lime green monstrosity you got on sale and they are on red bikes, well, you were warned

I have severe red-green color blindness so I prefer blue or black bikes. I would not appreciate red or green hues on bikes.
Just glad signal lights are top to bottom and not a single light that changes color.
That would be no es bueno para mi.

I'm sure you're not.

I pick the bike first and if given the option I will make a decision. On my road bike it was a special order so I got it in satin black with minimal logos since my last bike was a rolling billboard. On my CX bike there was no choice so I got it whit the standard paint.

But I certainly would not pick a bike because of the color or not pick a bike because of the color.

Do I care about the color? Yes.
Enough to override any other single factor in the decision? Not really. Given a wide choice I'll pick a color I like. Given a bike I've chosen that's only available in two-tone puke green and hot pink, I'll buy it and ride it. Might cringe when I look at it, but as long as it moves I'm good.
Do I care about anyone else caring or not caring about color?

Color and graphics might be my biggest consideration when choosing a bike. Its gotta be asthetically pleasing to my eye. And I like painting bikes so I choose interesting colors to paint them. All my bikes are early 70's boom era. If its full Campy NR or Simplex/Mafac, doesnt matter, color and decoration are key. White bar tape on most of them. Leather saddle or Unicanitor. Gum wall tires.
