Tent and mattress

Hi all!

-Please, who used and knows, to tell me if Naturehike products on Aliexpress are good? I am interested in a light tent and a mattress for bicycle tours. This year I plan to do at least one such tour.
-If you have other recommendations from Europe, thank you! Just not at an exorbitant price :).

I apologize if I posted where I shouldn't!

Ride safe

I don't know, but at that kind of money, you should have some left over for a better one if they aren't that great. Locally I can actually find less expensive. But I'm not where you are.

In terms of camping gear, probably the last two items you should cheap out on, especially since you are concerned about weight of water bottles. When it comes to mattresses, conditions you might encounter are important. Some are insulated. Some are not.

When you get enough posts post links to the particular items you are considering.

Watch out on low priced tents. Wind and rain will wreck your trip if you have to cheap of a tent.

We were hoping for some good quality / price recommendations :)

Thank you!

Don’t know what you consider exorbitant. For my money, Sea to Summit makes excellent mattresses. Not cheap, but high quality, which is what you want in an air mattress. Going cheap on something that needs to hold air can be risky. If you want to cheap out, get a closed cell foam pad. They can’t fail.

As for tents, I’ve never owned an inexpensive one and never will.

As a general rule, the lighter the item the more expensive, unless it’s junk.

The naturehike cloudup tents look fine to me. Tents are remarkably cheap these days, & quite well made. I've used a similar inexpensive tent for years without issue. For high mountains or snow, I have a sturdier one, but it is bulky and heavy.
I would get that & an eggcrate foam pad.

Make a shelter out of corrugated plastic (Ace uses them as shipping containers). I used to live in a trailer made of those that was light enough to drag on a bike, and it was cool. Completely wind resistant and kept the bodyheat in easy peasy.

Big Agnes makes excellent lightweight tents and Sea to Summit makes some of the best camping mats on the planet. I cannot imagine whatever junk they are selling on Alibaba with his 40 thieves is going to be of any quality. You can find cheap camping stuff but it will be heavy or if it is light it will be junk.

My experience is that one wild, rainy night, spent snug and dry in a quality tent will convince one that it was worth every penny one spent on it.

This is what the OP is looking at, I believe:

Aroyobob 04-17-21 08:04 PM

Not sure if these people will ship to Bucharest. https://www.sierra.com/ carries inventory close-outs of outdoor gear and clothing at a discount. Or something of a discount.

TiHabanero 04-18-21 02:20 AM

I am not an expert in these matters, however I have been going through the same search as the OP. Almost purchased a used Jack Wolfskin tent, but am very pleased that it did not work out for me as I found a much lighter tent better suited for bike touring. Low cost does not always mean low quality. Last week I picked up an Eureka Suma 2 tent for 150 USD. Although I have only spent a night in the tent on a Klymit Static V, non insulated air pad, I am satisfied that the two items will do well on my cross country tour. The Klymit air pad was 40 dollars USD and it was found at Sierra.com.

Hear this is a real bargain:

;)

Octavianandrei 04-18-21 11:10 AM

I kept looking at MSR, BigAgnes..., but it costs more than 300 euros. I expect a maximum of 150 :).

As for the mattresses, we hope for 50, max 70 euros.

Oricum, mulțumesc pentru sfaturile bune!

Hi!

What exactly did it mean?

It seems that both Eureka and Klymit are appreciated in rewiuri. Thanks a lot for the idea!

Unfortunately it does not deliver :( Anyway, thanks a lot for trying!

[/ Quote]
Hi!
What exactly does it mean?

I have the NatureHike Cloud Up 2 and even though I have not used it in the rain yet, it seems to be a very good tent for the money. Very light and easy enough to set up. There are numerous reviews on Youtube and most are very positive. I bought mine through Amazon, thereby avoiding the long wait with Aliexpress.

indyfabz 04-19-21 05:13 AM

Looks-wise, appear to be copies of Big Agnes tents.
