with shorts I wear short hiking socks that are kinda close to my skin color

with long pants I try to wear black, but my cycling pants are long enough to cover the top of my shoes so it probably doesn't matter

Black to hide the grease. When I commuted I carried my street clothes as well as socks, changing back into black socks and bike clothes for the commute home,

Generally bright neon yellow. Red and bright blue too. I don't go overboard trying to coordinate with any other clothing. Might be genre of cycling specific. If I ever was to do mountain biking off road or ride trails the BMX types might enjoy, I'd probably be muted colors with my socks.

Hi viz on road. The first time I drove up behind a rider wearing them they looked like two bright yellow lights going up and down. Coupled with his bright red blinker and hi viz jersey and rear view mirror (Take a Look"), I initially thought, "eesh, I'll never do, THAT!". Heck, the first thing I used to take off a bike was the reflector.
Then I had a close call a couple of days later on my bike. I've been hi viz jersey and socks ever since....and a Take a Look mirror.
I don't give a s*** what other people think, but, a lot of people are doing exactly what I am doing and I see more every day. And, many are experienced riders too.

None of the above? Some of the above?
Almost all are black base and have some color/pattern to then match or clash with the jersey.
Ornot and Handlebar Mustache are my current two favorites.

Typically black. I get several pair of Castelli team socks every year and most seasons they have been primarily black. Although they were orange for a couple of seasons.

Mostly white ankle socks. I need all the sun I can get to boost my vitamin D level.
I have a few black and gray socks of the same type, usually Russell or comparable support socks with a little extra compression around the midfoot and arch. I mostly wear those with casual clothes, walking and running.

I entered “white” on the survey/vote” page. But to be completely honest, cream colored or dingy white is a better description. I do have some gray/grey? socks that approach the dingy white after several/many washings. One thing for sure is NEVER BLACK! My faves are wool or wool blend but some are cotton. Usually devoid of logos but some are “that way”

Socks: basic black, with one exception: my mostest favouritest pair(s) of socks are these from Defeet. I have a stash of several pairs.

Wear a white tube sock under a black shoe on your left foot.

Black. But I do wear white socks when wearing the white shoes I bought for riding on the track but now occasionally use in good weather on my commute.
