Place to try on large cycling shoes in BC or WA
I am frustrated with cycling shoes (well shoes in general). I have never had a pair of cycling shoes that fit properly. I have large (50-52) low volume narrow (AA-AAA) feet. I have been wearing a pair of size 51 Shimano M088 MTB shoes for the last 5 years, but have had to add two extra insoles to take up the volume. They are starting to get loose (I don't know if this is due to recent weight loss or the shoes are stretching). Before that I wore a couple pairs of size 48 Nike Nguba MTB shoes which fit beautifully after stretching the toe area for a little extra length, but they haven't made these shoes for 25 years. It is hard to find anyplace where you can try on shoes larger that a 48 and ordering online is such a crap shoot for sizing. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a place that stocks larger sizes in British Columbia, Canada. Alternatively someplace in Washington state where I could go after the border opens.

If nobody comes up with a brick and mortar, I would suggest you research which shoes are popular with the bigger footed, then order a couple of sizes from some place that offers painless returns like REI or Amazon or whatever is in Canada. Keep what you like and return the others. Or return all and try another shoe. https://www.google.com/search?q=cycl...RRoC_EQ4dUDCA0

Yes, I saw that, but the border isn't open. Canadians also pay a huge premium due to the lower value of the Canadian dollar. Vancouver BC is a large city with numerous retailers to choose from including MEC stores which are similar to REI

Unfortunately neither MEC or REI don't seem to sell any thing over a size 48 (well REI has one pair of winter shoes) and even those usually aren't in stock at any of the stores.

MEC is headquartered in the Vancouver area. Try contacting them directly. While they may not carry something in stock, they may well be able to order something from one of their suppliers. I used to work for a distributor who dealt with MEC. We carried Lake shoes. If MEC contacted us looking for something special for a client we would move as quickly as possible to try to find what they needed and ship by the fastest means possible because MEC was a very lucrative customer. As far as returns go, their rock solid satisfaction guarantee assures you that you won't be stuck with something that doesn't work for you
