How do the trek isogrips compare to ergon grips gc1 ( without bar ends )?

I am betting Ergon made that for them. I had Ergon grips for a long time on one of my bikes, they were the bomb, If I had a flat bar bike, I would not hesitate to buy them again.

More than likely like many similar grips they are a cheap copy trying to make it ergonomic but missing it being Ergon. Ergon is the best for a reason, medical grade rubber and biokork on some of their stuff and their grips have the right firmness and support. I have seen and used a bunch of different grips like the Trek grips and Specialized and some other options and they may look a little similar but beyond that they usually miss the mark, a floppier rubber is usually the problem so the actual support isn't quite there.

I am happy to continue buying Ergon grips and probably won't be stopping anytime soon. Especially since they are I think the only ones making actual grips for sweptback bars and not just flat bar grips put on it because they is all that they make.

My Verve came with IsoGrips… traded them for Ergo knock-offs… I loved the knock-offs so much I’m buying genuine G3 or G5’s.

did you have to get a new handlebar Bc trek has these foams and such ?
also , I’m only talking about the flat portion, I’m not interested in bar ends . Is that flat portion alone worth it ?

I have the GP2(?) on my commuter and Ergon is the best! Solved the numbness, better resting for the wrist, (with the small "horns") additional hand positions and better control. I'll only replace them with the same.

Wife owns a Verve 2. The grips are nice. Ergon is better. If you have Trek Isogrip handles and they are working then no reason to switch. Otherwise, I think you'll be happy with Ergon grips and it won't take long to think it was money well-spent.

Trek isogrip vs. gp5. Ergon is expensive but the materials are nice. The alternate positions eliminated hand numbness.
Not familiar with the other models.

I don’t use the bar ends much, the flat part alone adjusted to the correct angle eliminates most of the numbness for me, the added hand positions on the bar ends does help relax my hands when I realize I’m squeezing the grips to tight.

If you’re shopping ergonomic grips, don’t neglect to check out the SQ Lab 702 and 710 models. They vary by size and position of the palm flare, but each also comes in 3 different sizes so you can best suit your actual hand measurements.

Ergon makes those for Trek. Trek likes to do that...relabel parts that others make as theirs.

Do you have info on that? I am quite curious as I have my doubts. Not that Trek doesn't like to do that but that they are Ergon.

Just look at them side by side and it's easy to tell. Maybe I'm wrong. But they sure look like Ergon knockoffs.

Ok then no they are not...maybe knockoffs but not made by Ergon and rebranded. Certainly quite different though a lot of the industry has realized what Ergon did and said yeah that actually is a good idea but didn't execute it the same.


Yes Trek does rebrand stuff but in this case not likely.

They barely bothered to relabel, even; the Bontrager still has the Crank Bros logo on the hose.

I second that. I used ergon in the past and recently switched to SQ-lab 710's and really like them

Dude... it's not like they knock off or steal the other brand's design. They contract certain brands to manufacture parts for them. Crankbrother makes money for every one of those Bontrager pumps that are sold.

Yes of course. I know that. Which is what Trek is probably doing with the IsoGrips as well.
