Not bad! I found that Velo-Orange Zeppelins add about 1.2 lbs on their own.

Yeah, that's what I had tried, but it seemed to fluctuate a bit, I think it gets me in the ball-park, though. I might try masking-taping the rear brake lever so that my digital pressure isn't affecting the result as much.

Mine does, as I think they all do. Mine is amazingly accurate, I have checked it with my digital lab precision balance.

No, just pounds or kilograms. It reads to the nearest 0.1 lb/0.05 kg, but I take the accuracy at that level with a grain of salt. ;)

just use your bathroom scale....most postal/package weights have a range....
