Go for it and send photos
After a few 100km the issue is still there and is even worse after cleaning the remains of the o-ring. Got a few others but does not feel riding this fork anymore.
I'm lucky enough to afford a new bike atm, will go through the replacement process meanwhile and try with the new fork if everything goes well. If the issue comes back I'll put a suspension fork.

The speedi-sleeve is a no-go right out of the box. It would fit over the axle with the heating/cooling trick, I'm sure, but it's a little too thick to fit into the fork. You'd need to install it on the axle, then turn it down in a lathe, which is more effort than I plan to do. Also, the lock washer would be behind the sleeve, negating it's lock-washer-iness.
I took mine back to the shop and mechanic to show them, again, that it's cross threaded and they sent me packing again, stating that that is the standard quality level of Salsa and that I'd just have to deal with it.
At the very least, I have further understanding of the actual problem, and I believe I'll be able to deal with it at the trailhead and not get zipped out of a ride.

I could afford a new bike, but as I told the mechanic when he suggested I get a new bike, this is my new bike, and I really like it a lot. It's perfect for most of my riding.

Salsa finally sent the fork, in fact they arrived to my Bike Shop and they are sending it to me !!!
Took 3-4 months of waiting. Another customer had exactly the same problem.
Salsa did not even ask for the old fork to be returned before sending the new one. It’s reassuring and feels serious.
Don’t hesitate if you encounter this issue during the warranty cover.

The new bike I ordered while waiting was a Canyon Grizl and it came cracked !!! 😡😩😡
Returned it and got a refund. Now waiting for my replacement fork in a few days 😃
Such a bad year for my bikes 😓 have also trouble with my MTBs atm.
Next carbon bike I 100% go with a lifetime warranty. Carbon bikes are dispensable items in my experience with 4 bikes from different manufacturers I had structural issues. Everything was solved under warranty but it’s such a lost of time.
