Terminal but not "serious" as it's obviously a POS/BSO. No loss.

Koyote 01-26-22 07:03 AM

Your bike is broken.

indyfabz 01-26-22 07:11 AM

Looks like you need to practice more.

It's not his bike...?

Sorry it will not do many more. Wheelies are hard on a frame and drivetrain and front brakes if you do rear wheelies also. Good news I guess is used BMX bikes are cheap, cheaper than MTBs.

Based on past practice, I say no. There is an easy way for the OP to prove me wrong. In fact, I would welcome that happening.

biker128pedal 01-26-22 07:51 AM

That’ll buff out.

Okay, we need one of those hostage photos -- the OP, holding today's newspaper while standing next to the bike.

While we wait for it, I will be out in the driveway, practicing my wheelies.

I would get a good dental PPO policy with a cracked headtube.

Iride01 01-26-22 09:19 AM

While it looks like a crack, if I couldn't see it any better in person than in the pic, then I'd have to clean off the paint to make sure it isn't just a large area of paint about to flake off. Or a thick coating of paint that just cracked but the lug beneath is okay.

The little rust spot looks suspicious though. Is this some sort of one piece headset with lugs similar to the old Chicago Schwinn's with the eltroforged head tube? Maybe some poor welding and cleaning when it was made, but I guess if the bike is as old as it looks, the welds held up long enough. Let it go to the scrap yard to become something new.

Get better at wheelies and it won't be a problem.

Four out of five dentists recommend riding a bike with a cracked head tube :roflmao2:

Small cracks become big cracks.

70sSanO 01-26-22 01:53 PM

Just sand the paint off and take another pic.

How in the world can anyone tell.

Crack kills!

TPL 01-26-22 03:49 PM

You might want to drill a small hole at top and bottom of crack ....then keep an eye on it prior to every ride

shelbyfv 01-26-22 06:04 PM

^^^Maybe mount a 12V truck battery to the back. Power the drill and a small welder, just in case.

wolfchild 01-26-22 07:45 PM

Gorilla Tape will easily fix that and you can even get it red to match your frame color.

indyfabz 01-26-22 08:16 PM

I smell a sock.

it is defintely a crack, not chipped paint.

It is made in Taiwan frame. probably 20 years old.

i am surprised there is a crack. it is buikt like a tank. Very heavy bike. Like a Dutch bike.
i thought this bike would last indefinitely. Not too long ago, I replaced a wheel and tires, and handlebar. This was my only bike during covid.
