Using SPD on all 4 bikes.
Shimano XC7 wide shoes for most seasons, except really cold, then switch to Lake 303 winter boots.

Yeah, mine are piling up, too:
Favero Assioma pedals, Shimano A600, Mavic Racelight Ti, Xpedo CXR
2 pair Bont A3 (road, MTB), Bont A1, Bont Riot+, Mavic Cosmic Ultimate MTB, Diadora MTB for the studio, Northwave Celsius Arctic GTX.
Different colors, different seasons…I’d say four pairs is the ideal for all-season roadies out here.

I used to use Look on my road bikes, and SPD on my mountain and folding bikes. Now I use SPDs on all the bikes, as I got tired of having to either choose shoes to match a particular bike, or change pedals to match a particular shoe.

The winter shoes are water proof and insulated, so there is no need for bothering with heavy socks or covers
The wear I put on my winter shoes is wear I am not putting on the summer shoes, so in the long run,
it does not cost me any more, (assuming similar prices for both).

I've been disappointed with the Lakes, not as warm as I wished they were, I would not buy again and they were expensive. I've recently tried an overboot on the Lakes, as well as my alternative, which is my Shimano summer shoes with wool socks and Performance neoprene booties. In both cases a pair of Bicyxle Planet wind proof over shoes in an XXL size helps trap in heat and keeps out the wind. Last 2 rides with either shoe setup saw my feet comfortable at 20 degrees F.

Avocet, of course, what else?
with the 8 dollar toe warmers that someone on the forum was so kind to mention and has been a life changing experience due to the lack of frostbite in the lower toe area.
And of course the Suntour SP-100 pedals what were you thinking? XPD? Kiss it.

A pair of FiveTen Freerider Pros for my platform-pedal bikes, and an old pair of Specialized mountain bike shoes for the one clipless bike. I try to keep things uncomplicated.

All my clipless bikes use Look cleats and I've got a pair of Lake CX301 which are just super comfortable and ridiculously light. Also got a pair of cheap Decathlon road shoes with velcro and fiberglass soles which are relegated to trainer duty mostly although they work fine and have done many miles.
On the gravel bike I use flat pedals with Specialized Skitch flat pedal shoes which look reasonable enough to wear, but if I'm commuting or doing a short ride, ordinary shoes are perfectly fine.

Pared down (pun intended) to one set of SPDs shoes and use them on each bike. Never looked back. So much easier.

Mostly I ride in old Nike Fly running shoes with black knit fabric. This time of year I have glamorous black duct tape across the toes to block wind, but you can’t really tell anything about my shoes because they are always covered in trail dust and splatter.
Sometimes if it’s below 40 F I will wear my low cut hiking boots that are Vasque Juxt. They are slightly warmer but a bit more squirrelly on platform pins because they have tread.
Platform pedals: VP-538 on the MTB and MKS RMX on the road frame.

Here's my current riding footwear stable. I like vintage bikes so also like vintage shoes to match.
The first road bike I built up had SPD-SL pedals, that is the Sidi's in the middle on the back row. My second bike was a single speed which I got the brown Maresi shoes 2nd on the left on the back row for, they look battered and worn and have done over 25,000 miles but on the inside are fully sculpted to my foot and seem indestructible. They are SPD's. My third bike was a vintage Eddy Merckx and I wanted white pedals with blue highlights to match the build, and so after scouring eBay I got some Look Delta pedals that matched perfectly. My fourth bike was my multi coloured Simoncini, and again I wanted some matchy pedals and again the best looking ones I found were Look Delta pedals.
At this point Look Delta pedals had established dominance in my stable, so I thought I'd try and stick to one type of pedals for any future bikes so I didn't have to have separate sets of shoes for different cleats....cos I sure as hell can't be bothered to change cleats each time I want to ride a certain bike.
Tick followed tock followed tick followed tock, and the bike accumulation continued and I now have 7 bikes with Look Delta pedals, 1 bike with SPD-SL pedals, 1 bike with SPD pedals and 1 bike with old style clips and straps. I would change the Shimano SPD-SL's on my Denti to Look pedals, as all my geared bikes run Campagnolo so I am kind of irked that it has Shimano pedals, but they've been in there so long now they've totally seized in the carbon cranks and I can't budge them, so for now I'm still running just one pair of shoes with the SPD-SL's.
However I have still managed to keep acquiring new shoes so I think I'm doing it wrong

Commuter...
4 Platform Pedals
3 with Toe Clips
2 pairs of water resistant stiff-soled sneakers...
1 of which lights up for after dark

Plastic bags over the socks when it's snowy or wet.
Wool socks over regular socks when it's cold. (Good down to 5F)

Too many shoes. I struggled with foot issues for years. Now it's back to laces. (Why did I ever leave? Oh yeah, for a couple of decades I couldn't find any to buy.)

Shimano RC9 S-Phyre with G8 Performance insoles for road - both bikes have Speedplay Titanium pedals.
I also have a pair of Sidi Wire 2's but don't use them anymore.
For MTB, I have Sidi Drako 2's and Shimano XTR SPD pedals.
I wear Santini and Castelli Merino Wool socks for Winter and have Santini H20 and Vega overshoes.

Two pairs, both with SPD cleats. A Chinese brand casual style shoe for summer riding, and a pair of 45N Ragnaroks for winter riding.
