I love riding time trial bikes. Tucked down, legs screaming at threshold, splitting through the wind. Good times! 😎

There's a TT sub-forum. Might get more appreciation in there than with these troll posters in the general forum.

I didn't see a TT subforum.

I am curious who was trolling? The closest was maybe the velomobile post but they are generally faster and more aerodynamic. The Zunow was a TT bike from back in the day and the Planet X looks like a pretty modern TT bike! Yes the TT subforum might make more sense but no real trolling here.

I can't see one, perhaps he means the Triathlon forum? I appreciate TT bikes, running and swimming not so much! 😂

Exactly, a velomobile isn't a TT bike. But someone thought it funny to post. That's trolling. How in the world is that the first thing that comes to mind? I'm not dumb. I get how BF rolls. That kind of intentional thing is one reason I increasingly don't like hanging out on BF, everyone thinks it's funny to constantly intentionally post stuff on the hairy edge of being off topic just to get attention.

It's really just an OCD thing of if we have subforums why not use them of why I mentioned the tri subforum. There's a pages long tri/tt bike photo topic already, but whatever. Ya'll have fun. Also, I thought it said post YOUR bike. There's a couple owners posted, but a lot of those others are pasted jpg links to a Google search someone did. I appreciate it when someone posts their own.

I think you should specify if you want to see our bikes or just want folks to paste Google results in here.

Urban dictionary: Trolling
As it relates to the Internet, is a deliberate act of making random unsolicited and/or controversial comments....with the intent to provoke an emotional knee-jerk reaction from unsuspecting readers to engage in a fight or argument.

No wish 'to engage in a fight or argument'. Hence, not trolling. And since both time trial bikes and HPV are the industry's best attempt to go fast, it even follows somewhat logically in the thread. Especially when the pic is prefaced with, 'Best for going fast'.

If I go to the Symphony and someone unsuspectingly gives me a brochure for the Opera = I do not accuse them of trolling. YMMV

Sorry, but with BF the allowances for staying on topic are a bit too lax IMHO. Since it's my opinion though and the mods never seem to mind, that opinion counts for nada.

The intent you missed is that their posting that is meant to trigger folks going "that's not a TT bike" then debate/argue it. Which is exactly trolling and exactly what you just posted as a definition. It would be like me jumping into the recumbent subforum and posting a bunch of junk about DF bikes in it that's irrelevant just to raise the ire of those folks.

So let's formalize it into being trolling by me saying "that velomobile isn't a TT bike" and engaging in that argument.

OK, .........but no argument from me. I don't mess with trolls. :D

2 velomobiles (as pictured above) are not time trial bikes.
But velomobiles and time trial bikes exist to see how fast a single cyclist can propel themselves alone on a course without the benefit of drafting, or motor assist.

No not trolling, you seem to be more on that track but I will digress.

The idea of a TT bike is to go as fast as possible and be as aero as possible generally so a bike designed specifically to do that in the most optimal fashion would make sense here. I mean if I were trying to go at the absolute limit and didn't have the pesky UCI rules to deal with, I would go Velomobile for sure. Low to the ground, fully enclosed for max aero dynamics, recumbent position for some comfort as well.

Also here is the OP's original text:

They just wanted pictures of TT bikes. I will agree it is fun to post your own if you own one but not really a request of this thread.

Yeah, there's no reason for humor on this forum. This is serious stuff.

The three spoke legs are directional because they have an airfoil shape. Even the modern open mold Chinese ones are directional. But now you have to pay more attention as many moved the valve stem hole to the rim and not inside the spoke leg. The giveaway of how to mount them was the indention in the trispoke leg. I'm guessing to reduce weight due to a complicated carbon layup that adds weight to have a hole in the leg of the wheel. I'm pretty sure the hole in one of the legs where you get to the valve stem should be facing so you can see it in the photo if the legs are facing the right way so as the wheel spins it's spinning the correct way. Probably they did this for a nicer photo.

Scroll to 5:39 in the video...........listen for that HED trispoke.....

Here was my HED 3 mounted with the spokes spinning in the correct direction, note you can see the hole in the spoke for the valve stem facing you in the photo.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d50d4043_c.jpg

Also another "Lance era" TT bike with that same wheel showing it mounted correctly:
https://roadbikeaction.com/wp-conten..._e-GALLERY.jpg

And below is the "modern" trispoke that Bigham and others are running in TT's, that despite having a true "vendor" is actually an open mold Chinese wheel...........this one is mine..... "Modern" because over time deep section wheels moved away from the sharp trailing edge to improve aero at a yaw angle other than "zero" or head on. They did this by rounding off the trailing edge. The "modern" ones have the same deep section profile of modern HED and ENVE style aero wheels by redoing the shape where the trispokes meet the rim. The trispokes themselves are also a more rounded/blunted trailing edge to improve aero at non-zero yaw angles. They also fit wider tires now. I run a 23mm on a 27mm wide rim version and inflated it's the profile you want. A 25 would work great also at a super minor aero penalty if you needed it for a bumpier course. Note as these are unbranded but the pros run them anyway in TT's, the MUST be good enough to justify that. It was a bad day for testing, but I had that wheel at about .007 faster than a HED 9+. Which is not trivial at all.

You know, I was actually looking at the photo and thinking, where is the valve stem? I'd not considered it'd be inside the leg of the carbon spoke!

I'm tossing up whether to buy a Tri Spoke for my modern TT bike. I don't care if it's faster or not, they just look bloody awesome, haha! Thanks for the information. I love a good nerd-out over TT and aero gains.
