What has prevented you from riding this year?

Here is my excuse. He arrived on 24 July, and until then I've felt guilty leaving my pregnant wife alone with a 3 year old while I go riding through the countryside.

...and a child is not completely obnoxious until the younger sibling arrives.

You're scoring points in my book. Big ones. What a cutie.

Start shopping for a trailer.

Good reason to spend a bit of time off the bike.

And great forward planning too. Creating your own future riding partners is a very clever idea.

I think I know where I can get one for very cheap. A family member of mine (with a bit too much money) bought a bike trailer a few years ago, and has used it once.

Thanks oceanrider. I'm very proud. I now have two little boys. The bike races should begin in just a few years!:D

It's a good enough excuse :)

That's one cute kid! Take some time off and enjoy.

Congratulations A F Baker! I don't have any myself yet. Have a sister-in-law on my side and one on my husband's side who are both pregnant and taking the pressure off right now. I'm trying to ride as much as I can this year though (which is not that much) because I know I'll have to take a break for a while at some point.

Keep up the good work, Baker!

Well that blows to hell any excuses I might have had

Congrats on the new cyclist, when are you
buying that first bike?

A fine combination of accidents, work and a hint of lazyness.

tmayder 07-31-02 01:22 PM

Congrats on that little cutie there!! That is a much better excuse than mine. I'd stay around for that too!

I am not riding today because even though it is JULY 30, it is snowing about 30 miles from here and I'm already freezing.

This isn't fair!!

For me the month of July has pretty well been wiped out by a kidney stone. Should be back at it again daily in about a week.

i too have blown a gaping hole in the 'cycling makes you impotent' theory, my wife and i are expecting our 3rd child in early december.... i have found time to bike 2000 miles exactly so far with a full time job and a 7yr & 4yr old boys and all their activities and of course time for me and my wife of 10 years (aug 15th) most of my rides are early in the morning before getting the kids off to camp/school then myself off to work. i am on suntan lotion patrol this summer making sure they are lubed up before camp. i do this after my many 2 hr rides starting at 6am.

i have not let too many events/episodes keep me from my cycling this year, but me thinks that will change next year....
