The race is ON at ShimaNO ....yet another 'abandoned' product from ShimaNO ....how many riders did they leave holding the bag on this one ?

Airlines probably didn't really let down a whole lot of people Pro's are generally sponsored so they get new equipment as needed there was no need to continue making it. I have a co-worker who used it back in the day but he never felt like Shimano betrayed him or shut him out because of it. He is still quite happy with Shimano.
SRAM discontinued a lot of stuff in their buying like IGHs and so have a lot of bike companies should we just say no to bikes? Technology will keep moving forward and stuff will eventually not get the same level of support or any support unless someone else decides to take up the torch separately. I have seen plenty of stuff in my lifetime that is no longer really supported or available and it is just part of life. My iPad which is a few years old (ok more than a few) stopped working with the youtoobs app so now I have to watch it from the internet browser and it kinda sucks but hey I have made it work and I have more than gotten my monies worth out of it (had I not gotten it from a contest).

Got a typewriter, cassette player, VHS? ....yes, to each of these, they all still work ....and, I am still able to obtain supplies for them
Same cannot be said for ShimaNO Positron, Pitch 10, Dynadrive pedals, Tourney self centering brakes, FFS cranks, Airline, AX, Uniglide, etc., ad nauseum ....all, just a bunch of glop that makes you wonder when ShimaNO will jump the shark by breeding the 'self walking dog with attached fire hydrant' ?
Perhaps ShimaNO is really well diversified with substantial holdings in land fills around the world ?

I fail to understand your axe to grind with Shimano. Is it just Shimano? Are you finding Dia-Compe Aero brake parts, crank cotters, Simplex derailleurs, and a wide supply of 27" skin-wall tires on the shelf at your LBS? Time marches on dude.

What about SRAM and say something really new like eTap 11 speed or older stuff like all of the IGH stuff? I cannot get Campagnolo Nuevo Record or Delta brake parts or anything like that from the OEM.
I am curious what your mega issue is with Shimano? Did they hurt you? Did Shozaburo Shimano rise up from the dead and haunt you? Do you work for Campagnolo or SRAM or Microshift? Did you trip over a box of Shimano Cassettes one day and vowed they would never hurt you again? Companies make products and not all products are a #1 hit and sometimes they don't keep making stuff for it. I don't know a lot of companies that support stuff from the 70s sometimes there is aftermarket stuff but OEMs generally don't. We learn and grow and come up with newer stuff and improve upon all of that stuff and sometimes we don't improve it but we come up with different versions and that is what it is.
In the end yeah do I love Shimano for everything they do? Hell no, do I think they make some really great products, hell yes. I am not always going to like everything that someone does. Plenty of musicians and bands have made some really great music and then released an absolute terrible album that you don't understand but it exists. Caddyshack was a great movie but Caddyshack II sucked but it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of Caddyshack.
