broken clavicle (no ill effects) and a few cracked ribs altho two different and unrelated (to the clavicle) falls on the left shoulder leave it

occasionally with a dull ache on days when i'm on my feet for much of the day. we'll see where the three sustained concussions

(with helmet(s) thank goodness) slot into the madness down the road. suspect they will come to collect on the bill at some point...

The worst injury i've had is the one that i'm still recovering from. In November a car hit me from behind in a shared car/bike lane and i got a fractured femur, a busted knee and some lost skin as i was thrown in the air and landed on its windshield then rolled on the ground. The car's windshield got shattered and its hood got dented.

The impact was straight to the rear tire which absorbed a lot of the forces and surprisingly it was still fully inflated afterwards!

Crashed 2 blocks from New Trier High School. Somersaulted with bike and landed on my left knee. Pretzeled my front wheel; it would not turn. In slight shock, I told a motorist who stopped to offer me a ride, 'Thanks, but I think I can ride home.' Fortunately, the guys I was with got me into the car. Unfortunately, the only thing I remembered about the driver was that she was a RE agent, so I couldn't thank her when I was wholly sentient. I'd have given her something to her favorite charity if I had been able to find her. (She did not seem to be in poverty.)

That was the day before my 40th birthday. The day of my birthday, I was on the El heading for work, when I noticed that my knee had bled through the bandage and the knee of my pants. I went home. I missed work on my 40th b'day because I fell off my bike.

I'm really sorry to read of the damage some of us have sustained. To those of you still suffering, I'm really sorry.
