Same with swim. Short distance and long distance.
Why are there no 100 yard dash professional sprint events ?
Why is all biking events an hours long slog?
What about the fast twitch folks??

Because the idea/concept is utterly, completely uninteresting to anyone ... other than (apparently) the op.
/thread.
Edit: teh Biek Forms continues its slow, agonizing, spiralling descent into utter stupidity, especially here in 'General'.

The do. It's called crit racing

30 to 60 minutes on bike is basically an all out sprint.

Racers do a pre-determined number of laps or race for a pre-determined amount of time - usually 30 to 90 minutes.

put one together, get some others to participate - enjoy - maybe an avenue to greatness ??? or boredom...
topic has been picked clean already...
100 meter bike races, building a bike for sprints.
if you live near a velodrome, you can get to doing the walt mitty thing... plenty of sprinting, and also the ultimate mating of speed and pain - the Kilo
done...

Same as running, if you want to see speed, don't hang out at marathons or cross country. Go watch track and field. Now sadly, it is more popular to demolish tracks for their real estate than build new ones. The days of this country being the equal of anyone on the track are long gone.

You could have posted asking if there were any short events in cycling favoring the fast twitch athlete. Instead you chose to advertise your ignorance by stating as fact something demonstrably untrue. Look up velodrome or match sprint.

Didn't you start a thread with exactly the same question about a year ago? If not you, it was someone with a similar forum style.
Bike racing has been around for about 120 years, ample time to determine that 100 yards is not enough distance for bikes to get up to full speed. You might as well ask why there aren't 10-foot-dash running or swimming races.
Here are a couple of examples from videos chosen at random.
Closest equivalent, solo:
.
Closest equivalent, head to head:
Track racing looks good in videos. If you're really interested and not just posting out of boredom, look up some races under, e.g., World Championship sprint, World Championship miss-and-out, World Championship kilometer, World Championship points race, World Championship keirin, etc.

Really? is that more todo with Pro vs very very fast amateur ? The crit video racing I watch on youtube guys be soft peddling at 200 watts, mostly pedal seems like 300+ watts, then sprint 1000+ watts.

Too much equipment and prep for a 15-20 second activity. Here's a better idea. Forget the bikes/cycling gear and run it instead.

Why do I feel like we’ve been over this during the last year?

Your analogy comparing the distances of bicycling events to running and swimming events isn’t relevant. By your comparison, since bicycling has events that are well over 100 miles…thousands of miles if you consider stage races as a single event…then running and swimming should have events of similar distances.

How long does it take to accelerate a fixie from zero to 70km/hr? A 100m dash may take 3seconds to complete.

I seem to recall there's some form of 'sprint' in track cycling which usually ends up being as exciting as watching paint dry. There are two riders and they both end up track standing up at the top of the banking, waiting for the other rider to get bored and go for it, so they can grab their wheel and slingshot around them to win. So, mostly they do nothing for a long time.
