What phone mount?
What’s your go-to phone mount? I’m having a tough time trying to pick a cheap Chinese one off of Amazon, but I don’t want to change the case on my phone to use a quad lock. Any suggestions?

My pocket on the rear of my jersey. I put it in a plastic zipper bag to keep my sweat off of it.

I would be using quad-lock if it would fit my phone.
I have tried a bunch of mounts....
This is the best inexpensive one that I have found:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y1X3JD3
This one works really well, and is very solid
.
This one I used for bicycle and motorcycle, which is superior to the one above but heavier and more expensive:
https://www.amazon.com/Cradle-Holder...0055PH0XA?th=1
You would need to buy the RAM phone holder, then a handlebar mount also.
I would just do the first one if starting with nothing, and no other vehicle to use it on.

After trying a few cheap (and not-so-cheap) generic phone mounts, I finally bought a QuadLock and realized I should have bought a QuadLock to begin with. I don't use the QL case for my normal carry, I just swap it out when I'm riding in order to mount it on the bike...takes me 2 seconds.

Thank you for the responses. I think kwb377 has the best answer. I do not want that case on my phone all of the time, but it would probably we worth swapping each time to make sure I have a solid mount.

Been using this one for quite some time now, pretty simple, and easy to move between bikes. Was given a couple of the more complex, mechanical ones as gifts and had issues with every one of them. The simple silicone one does much better on the crappy roads around where I live.

Years ago I had a quadlock and it worked fine. Secure, well made, yada yada yada.
In the many years since, I have exclusively used a jersey pocket because it is less expensive, just as secure, and just as well made. It is actually designed specifically to hold things like a phone. Truthfully, I have a zip pouch wallet that holds money, ID, and the phone.
I do have a cheap $6 phone holder for my indoor trainer bike's handlebars. Easy access to ZWIFT controls and music. Its like the one tkamd posted- rubber bands all around and its secure.

Yea if I didn’t want to look at my phone I would just keep it in my pocket. I’m a type 1 diabetic so I like to keep an eye on my glucose pretty consistently while riding. Plus it’s nice to see the time and look at the map if needed.

Quadlock would be the way to go. Cheap stuff to hold a potentially expensive phone is just dumb and sounds like a really poor idea. If you are scraping the bottom of the barrel I would recommend using clear tape and wrapping some around it. No need for a phone case or anything and the tape will probably fail but you at least expect that.

Quad Lock does make a stick on Universal Mount that you can put on more or less any phone case as long as the back is flat. We did this with my wife's iPhone becasue she didn't want the all black Quad Lock case. It seems to be stuck on quite firmly, though this can vary with the case material. Quad Lock lists the plastic types that it does and doesn't stick to. It low profile, but likely interferes with wireless charging. My wife's phone doesn't have wireless charging, so I have no experience with that.

Topeak, there is nothing on the market as good. You get a very durable phone case with a flip-out stand, and it locks firmly onto a mount which can be attached to a handlebar or the top of a stem. You can buy the case and mount separately, so you can get mounts for all your bikes and have to buy only one case, or need a new case for a newer phone.

Check out this Quad Lock VS Knockoff Quad Lock video (I’m not affiliated with this channel). They broke an iPhone 13 trying to pull the Universal Quad Lock Adapter from the Quad Lock handlebar mount. I say that the 3m adhesive Quad Lock uses is pretty strong.
Here is my take on this subject:
My phone is close se to $1000.00 USD. Do I really want to be carrying it on my bicycle without a full case… nope… I have a tendency to drop
my phones and break them beyond repair… and these new phones with wireless charging capabilities make the chassis even more delicate.

Not sure what about any negatives concerning the Quad Loc case.
I'm a seven year user over three iPhone generations. The case never catches on anything going in our out of my pocket.
With carriers on three bikes, I freely mount between them.
Very sturdy case with no vibration. I think my case and mount cost about $60 total a couple years ago.

I have 2 cheap phone mounts.
The ones that have left and right clamps that ratchet in and a rubber attachment that overhangs each corner.
In their original form, they were ok.
I disassembled them and removed the ratcheting arms and hardware, reassembled them, then attached industrial velcro (hook) on the face of the mount.
Then added the velcro (fuzzy) to the phone case.
It's now more secure that anything I've ever owned, in rain, snow, dust, and dirt.

This is important information. Given your need to keep your phone in plain sight you should not be looking at price when it comes to finding a phone mount. Look for the best secure system for mounting your phone on your bike regardless of the price

You may find that a GPS device is then even more convenient than a phone mounted atop a quadlock since its smaller and has a longer lasting battery.
To each their own though as there is no wrong way here- its all just a matter of using what works best for your style of riding.

I use the GUB motorcycle phone mount. They are on Amazon or maybe eBay. I use them on and off road. On my road, gravel, mountain and fat bikes. And on the tandem too.
I'm also using a Motorola G-Power 2021 phone which has run for 7 hours without running out of battery.
