that's a bummer. Mine do. I read online that they do not get very dark, which is why I bought them. I dont like dark glasses. At my age, a too dark lens makes it difficult to discern between shadows and potholes.

Having a few cheap made-in-China blinkies for the rear of your bike isn't a bad thing as long as you have at least one good light back there.

Flashing lights are illegal here in Ontario.
there’s a reason for that.
If there’s one type of “cyclist” I want beat to a pulp, it’s ******bags that think annoying and distracting lights on their bike is a good thing.

Got the $4 lights.
They work, but they are very cheaply made, as expected.
I will try an evening ride soon and see if they last the ride!
Where is the best place to install these two flashing lights?
I put one on my seat post, facing rear.
The other I arbitrarily put on my top cross bar facing left?

For all you doubters about inexpensive bike lights I have used a similar 100 lumen light for at least 4 years and have given away pairs of them as Christmas gifts. Mine are knockoffs of the Lezyne Drive 100. They used to cost about $3.50 each ordered from China. They will run for 6 hours in flash modes so I was charging them every 4th day after my ride. For a while they even came in chip-on-board LED lights with both colors red and white in one light. The battery inside is 650 mAh.
Here is a red 3 LED Lezyne Drive clone mounted on a plastic tube and attached to the frame of my recumbent trike. I do that because it makes on and off really easy.

- Bell, gong or horn in good working order, but not permitted to have sound similar to emergency vehicle.

When commuting many years ago I bought a $225 halogen Cygro light with a flasher and high a low beam. The battery pack weighs about 3 lbs and is good for a couple of hours of amazingly bright light. So what do I use on my road bike now when riding in and out of shadows and low light? A $4 LED rechargeable blinky from Amazon which probably weighs a quarter of an ounce.
In the back its a Varia blinky and another $4 LED red blinky.

I'm assuming you're not using the front light to see where you're going, but I would still face it straight forward so vehicles pulling out of driveways and side streets can see you coming. Preferable mounted on the handle bars so it turns in the direction that you're going. Night riding is a blast and I'm not being facetious. I love riding after it's full on dark, trails or roads, it's all fun.

I have two red flashing lights mounted on the seat stays. Luckily the mounting bands go small enough to fit snugly on the smaller diameter tubing of the seat stays.

One or two flashing red lights facing rear, or, one solid and one flashing red light facing rear.
One flashing white light facing forward for daytime.
One solid light and (optional, maybe useful if riding in heavy traffic) one blinking white light facing forward.
Or .... whatever you like. You are smart enough to have lived this long, you are smart enough to figure out why you have lights on your bike, and smart enough to put them where they will do what you want them to do.
