What's the most frustrating thing when it comes to using your road bike?
One question for all the people using a road bike.
What's the most frustrating thing when it comes to using your road bike? Thanks, |

My wife thinking I ride just to get out of doing other things.

I assume this thread will spawn additional mountain bike, touring bike, gravel bike threads.

Red.

All too often, the good dumpsters are already picked over. I hate when that happens!
I need a gravel bike so I can get to some of them that are off the beaten path. |
#1 most frustrating thing...
The crappy motor. |
Having to put up with know-it-alls who think they know better than me what tire pressure I enjoy riding.

It's for your own good. And, you should be eating chocolate ice cream, not vanilla.
Frozen yogurt is where it's at. |
You've clearly never had my homemade strawberry ice cream.
|
I'd say trying to use my road bike as a lawn mower is quite frustrating. Fortunately, whenever I use it as a bicycle, it works great.

Ice cream? Are you crazy? That high-fat stuff will clog your arteries and undo all the good things "using [a] road bike" might do for you.
Frozen yogurt is where it's at. Crossing the country and then some I ate so much fried chicken I grew feathers. Someone in our group gave me minor grief about it until I pointed out all the ice cream she had been eating. |
One troll gets banned in the last couple days and another one pops up..what a surprise. It's one thing we surely need is yet another troll asking a never-ending, overlapping stream of inane, moronic survey questions.

I spent a few weeks looking for a Subway.
Fun fact: I once got a sandwich from the world’s highest Subway restaurant. It used to be at the top of Monarch Pass in CO. After pedaling up there fully loaded (11,313’) I was willing to settle. |

I prefer the good natured trolls who post mostly inane questions about trashcan booze, rolling doobies and riding while shirtless and trouncing the field at the local "Slow Roll" or Turkey Trot However i did have a friend who would refer to every organized ride he participated in as a race. Things like the MS 150. "I was in contention for a podium spot at the MS150 on day 2 until my chain broke " --- making me wonder if anyone else knew they were in a race |
Rattles are frustrating AF. I am relentless in getting them sorted.
People who ride with a chain that needs oil or adjustment annoys me too. I got that from my dad. |

Subway is everywhere. I once got a sandwich from them when I was stuck for a couple days at an airport in Kuwait. It was the only place to get food. That sandwich tasted great and was very satisfying.
Food at foreign locations of chain places is often better than here in the states. I remember going to a McDonald’s in Barcelona and being pleasantly surprised. But when you come from the land of the hoagie, Subway doesn’t come close. I can get a much better sandwich from the pizza, etc., joint on my corner, for example. |

As a life-long resident of the land where the hoagie was born, that makes me cringe. :D
