I wash mine after every ride, but have only started doing that in the past five years. The prior 35 years I only washed them occasionally. I also rinse my helmet after every sweaty ride now. Never used to do that.

I wash my kit in the washing machine with cold water, extra gentle cycle, and very little detergent. I stopped hand washing kit 15 years ago probably.

Back when I had leather and crochet gloves, every month or so was fine.

Now with synthetics and some kind of foam padding, the foam starts stinking early and, once stinky, never seems to get better with washing. Scratching my nose or adjusting my glasses becomes an olfactory ordeal. So they need to be washed after every ride, sometimes with a "pre-soak" of Borax on the inside while I'm getting the rest of the laundry load together.

Now that I think about it, some of the black which came off my gloves may have been coming from the rubber grips on my flat handlebars. I used those handlebars from my old bike on my new bike, and when I pulled the grips off my hands were covered with tiny black pieces of rubber. Needless to say I replaced them.

You guys that wash after every ride, Do you own multiple pairs? Do laundry 4 times a week or only ride once a week? Are you the same people that cleans your bike after every ride and wax the chain?

Yes, maybe 6 pairs of summer gloves and maybe two pairs of winter gloves (we just don't get much winter where I am).

It doesn't take much effort to put sports kit in the washing machine and hang it to dry, and laundry day is every day with 4 young kids. It's the 21st century, there's a machine for that, you know.

Washing sports kit pronto means your clothes and you don't pick up a funk. It's basic hygiene and everyone who rides with you appreciates it.

ride 4-5 times a week on 5 bikes, 4 padded cycling shorts, 3 pairs of summer gloves, So cycling clothes, gloves (and sun visor hats too) get washed after every summer ride, chains and tubeless tires each get serviced twice a year, rarely clean the bike frame or wear helmets, otherwise helmets get washed in the shower floor with me after each ride.

Just one pair at a time, and its a quick rinse & a few squeezes in running water. Since they're made of synthetic material they'll dry in a few hours if I hang them outside in the breeze so no issue with wet gloves for riding the next day. I'm in Southern Calif so sunny days are normal around here. 😎

Multiple pairs. That said, summer weight gloves dry super quick. In winter it can be a bit of an issue, so I try and hang them over the fireplace to dry!

Multiple pairs of gloves? Yes, but I usually wear the same pair every day when the weather is good. It takes about 3 minutes to rinse-soap-rinse-squeeze-hang to dry.

I have hooks on the inside of our water heater closet door, and I hang my damp gloves there. They dry out quickly.

Laundry: once a week or when the hamper is full, whichever comes first.

Ride: 6-7 days a week.

No and no, but I do spray the frame daily with ammonia + water and wipe it down. It gets rid of the sweat, sunscreen, and sticky dribbles from the water bottles.

I wash my gloves maybe every couple of months or after a majorly hot and sweaty epic ride. Basically once they look/smell like they need washing!
