Wasn't there a poster named Cheez?

Dude had a rebuilt 80s Trek with modern Campy and a Canyon MTB. Lived by choice in a shed.
...or am I getting his username wrong?

Yesterday I saw a homeless guy coming out of the woods on an old steel Colnago and got a flashback to the poster here who rebuilt his road bike.

yes there was.
he got cancelled, not sure if permamently banned, but all his posts were "removed".
last entry about him, in 2021, in the "Banned Users" thread says "one week", but he hasn't been on the site since.

you can still see him on youtube, where he has two channels:

Cheez lived in Indianapolis, by the tracks west of Union Station and by the closed power plant. How do I know that? He posted lots of videos and made no effort to disguise where he lived. I recognized the area. Ironically, he was always worried people would break into his shed and steal his bike.

He had a "friend" in higher places who told him everything to do, such as living in the shed, buy the Canyon mountain bike, etc...

I'm thinking that guy stole the Colnago, since homeless people generally prefer Pinarellos.

Ha, it was a bike that had seen better years...or better decades.

recall Cheez and his somewhat rambling . possibly disturbing videos . I would have thought the amount of money it took to purchase a very nice carbon Canyon hardtail would almost be life changing (if only temporarilly) to a guy living in a shed, but IDK ---

I have my religious beliefs too, --- but me thinks with poor Cheez, there may have been some instability involved too. And the contents of the Youtube site linked to above do nothing to dissuade me from that opinion. I hope the guy can get some help

I remember him. Did HE remove his posts or did the forums??

In either case, I think he needs his meds adjusted.

Removed all posts is clearly a sign. Draw your own conclusions.

+2

I'd only seen one of those Youtube channels..... The more-normal one. That second one, with all the talk of end-times and his aunt going to Hell, I had not seen.

I always tried to be nice to him and even considered stopping by his shed in an upcoming trip to Indy that wound up not happening. That would have been a real BF scoop! But after seeing that "other" Youtube channel, I now wonder if they'd eventually be pulling my dead body out of the river, full of Jim Jones' kool-ade. I probably dodged a bullet.

For those unaware, his over the top spending was not limited to bikes.
He posted a lot on a stereo forum, and this thread is pretty amazing (the pages can be difficult to read, as there is some kind of "ad" that seems to cover a lot of the page after you first click on it):
https://forums.anandtech.com/threads...rness.2567938/
The 'noobz' youtube channel has several of his videos that he posted in that thread, responding to people claiming he wasn't "real".

Interestingly, on that same forum, not that long ago, someone else asked what happened to him:
https://forums.anandtech.com/threads...cheez.2597622/

I do miss cheez. I hope he has found some peace in his life.

After reading the posts, I recall him. Never paid too much attention to his posts, figured it was just a lot of talk. Buying an expensive bike, a shed for parents, etc. So, the posts were real, or at least some?

He played deranged on the forum but he wasn't. I had some PM contact with him, he was just trolling for attention. Not to say we haven't had some with screws loose. Still do, obviously.

So he plays a character on youtube videos too? Placing a shed on public land, buying a bunch of stuff to fill it, and then videoing hours worth of content where you write about the end of times sure seems like an extensive troll job.

Very extensive. But that is not out of the ordinary here on teh Biek Forms. This board ('General Cycling') has been riddled with such nonsense as of late -- and it continues.

Yep. It's become just about unreadable. I can tell when I read a thread title when it's a single digit post count "newbie." But the posts generate responses. Then there are the irresistible regulars.

Yeah, that is out of the ordinary. It would require someone to buy and stock a shed on public land, and then post a ton of extensive YouTube videos showing the transitonal housing plus sherd. And then also post detailed YouTube videos abou the end of days. Oh, and it would require posting similar ramblings for years on another forum too.
That would be trolling at another level. Thousands of dollars invested and hundreds upon hundreds of hours to produce the content.
