OK I am as a Canadian pretty much as anti Trump as the next guy, but I don't see any problem with anyone having pro Trump slogans written on their bike. It is their right to do so in a country where they have an inalienable right to speak freely as long as their speech doesn't hurt another citizen. Free speech means having to sometimes hear things you don't agree with

Yep. This thread is going to get locked because some people feel they have a right to be "not offended" in spite of a world which does not conform to their model. Changing the world is hard. The easier answer is to change the model to conform to the world as observed. Smart-science-guy Richard Feynman once said: "If theory does not match observation, theory is wrong."...or something to that effect.

I don't know if it's going to be locked, but no I don't think it would just be because of fear of "offending" people. Honestly, I don't think there's anything of interest in the OP bike, so the conversation if left to drift is just going to go smack into the political statement on the bike. That, as usual, will drive out any conversation not about politics. There are other forums for that, I really don't need this one to morph into the same old, same old.
Now the bikes you posted, those are worth talking about! What's the story here? Who painted those?

As far as the bikes I shared, I've seen a few here in Sicily but these are the 2 I managed to snap a pic of. I can't offer much other than both appeared to be functional & in daily use. Both were parked outside on the street begging for further attention. Drawing customers into a sidewalk cafe, so to speak. Maybe it is an expression of individuality in a dense & vibrant culture. To my eye it screams "Romani" but I don't have the context or cultural background knowledge to be definitive or render judgement other than: "Hey, that's cool!"
I've seen wagon carts, cars & other random things done in this style too. Perhaps it's an expression of regional culture, identity, belonging? If so, neat!

Clearly associated with the establishment that they're in front of - see the other painted fixtures in the background. Also, given the underinflated tires of the first, I'd bet that they don't go walkabout too often.

WhyFi I thought that too. But then I saw so many scooters with under inflated tires that I decided that maybe not being run up full up tight against the max was also a "thing" too. The slower streets are cobble or brick. The extra suspension from under inflation might be welcome. They have a posted 30kph limit that is almost never reached, by any mode, even if you wanted to. The fastest streets have a 40kph limit. Those are smooth asphalt but even the most aggressive taxi driver didn't exceed 50kph & he did so only momentarily up the middle of the street free from pedestrian hazards that might pop out from either side.
I guess my point is that speeds in general are so slow & that properly inflated tires just aren't a high priority.

As a second thought, I don't know that it'll get locked either. I hope not. I think the word "cynical" might apply. A weird and unusually decorated bike thread would be cool IMO. Also as a point of reflection, it is important to seek out the artists intended meaning.

Those really show an incredible level of craftmanship/artistry. That's either the work of a professional or of one truly obsessed amateur. Makes.me wonder if there's a local artist making a living painting utilitarian objects generally or just bicycles. I'm amazed someone can paint cranks and rims and still make it rideable.

Can you start a new thread? This deserves much better than "weird", and I really hate these " let's mock someone's bike" threads. I suspect there's others who feel the same way that won't get past the op.
