It sounds like you have a rod in your femur now and another screw or 3 connecting to the rod to keep the head and rod itself in place. I think you’ll be surprised just how quickly you’ll recover. It’s not a bad system at all.

If you needed a partial hip replacement from it, that takes a bit longer but is still a pretty quick recovery.

I probably wouldn’t recommend mountain biking or skiing this winter but I bet you’ll be doing pretty well before you know it.

Fast skis, fresh snow, fresh corduroy, nice weather. Things don't get much better.

The Orthodox called it a partial hip replacement. I was prepared for the pain, but not the weakness in that leg. Now that I have wrapped my head around the facts, I think I will be OK.
The goal now is to be back at work before the end of the year and to be back to a decent level of fitness by May.
