Good news

Three of the four really rotten cold months of winter are over, and there is only 44 days till spring.

That means about the middle of the month I will get my trike down from the hooks on the garage ceiling and start it yearly overhaul. That prevents things from going wrong in the riding season, and gives time for parts to arrive you find bad.

Winter…

Is that the season when the hills are green, the air is transparent, and the wildflowers are in bloom?

I like winter.

Get a trainer, and you'll be able to cycle all year long. No need to ride in the snow.

True, that wet spell was a doozy. So many damaged roads in the mountains, too. Some of my favorite rides currently are off limits.

Still need speed skates in Texas. LOL. I watched a guy's live stream from DFW. Near dead streets around DFW.
The latest deep freeze here ends tomorrow.

You hang your trike from hooks? How barbaric.

Some of us enjoy riding in the snow and I have absolutely no interest in any indoor trainers.....I don't consider indoor trainers to be real cycling., there is no bike handling skills involved and no experience when using an indoor trainer, it's just a dull, boring way to kill some time.

Backcountry skiing is at least as good as mountain biking. Let it snow.

Yep. There's a new up-an-coming season, though. It's called smoke.

Smoke season: Get up in the morning, open the air quality map, see if there's somewhere that has somewhat breathable air. Plan your ride.

I lived on Matadero for several years. That creek could get pretty scary during rainy season.

I was living in San Francisco at the time of the Berkeley Hills fire. That one seems quaint now by comparison.
