I've lost parts of rides with Strava in the past. You can create manually entered rides if you wish. Perhaps it really doesn't matter that much.

And here I thought that war and famine were noteworthy. First world problem.

Alternately, I think you can still use map my ride to recreate your route and then convert/upload to Strava to keep continuity. You will have lost telemetry for that section though.

I have done whole commutes with Strava turned off, which is a massive pain in the ass. I had to train myself to turn on Strava first, before the podcast, because when you're going for a goal, like 10,000 kms per year, manually added kms count, but they're annoyingly not "officially" recorded kms. I have also forgotten my helmet. Rode out in mid winter with a heavy fur-lined helmet liner scarf on my head, thought about how free my head felt halfway to work, got vaguely suspicious and put my hand up onto my "bare" scarf covered head. My ears were warm enough I guess.

I had never heard of Strava until about a month and half ago and I have to admit since using it I would really be bummed if I made it half way through a ride without hitting start. Just yesterday I was at the end of my driveway and got distracted when I was shutting my garage door and almost forgot to start it...whew total stressful situation.

(I think this is supposed to be an add your own I noticed halfway through my ride.)
For example, halfway through my ride, I realized I had forgotten to wear my helmet!
