Great service from BikeTiresDirect.com

I bought a refurbed Garmin Edge 820 almost a year ago, and the charging port failed 3 weeks before the warranty expired. I did an online chat with BTD's customer service to find out if I should deal with them or Garmin directly. I described the symptoms and was told they'd take care of it. The rep offered me full store credit or full credit towards a 530 at a very good price (though I'm sure the price will be bettered soon).

No muss, no fuss, just good problem solving.

I'm sure this is not news to BTD customers. I'm writing to say to folks who haven't dealt with BTD, if you want to buy something they sell, buying from Bike Tires Direct is a great decision.

I only live about 80 Freeway miles from them, but I've had tires delivered in <24 hours.

Agree 100%

Bike Tires Direct, Tri Sports and Western Bike Works are the same company (Velotech). Western Bike Works is also an excellent company. It's my "go to" every time if they have what I'm looking for. Their pricing is usually excellent and shipping policies and speed superb.

I went to their storefront in Portland last year and it works very well. It's very near PDX airport if you ever have a layover there and want to kill some time productively! They have minimal stock on display, but a kiosk where you place items from their online catalog into a shopping cart and they're quickly brought out for you to look at, try on etc. I bought shoes and a helmet based on being able to try them on, but at online prices. Very slick. The also have a very good return policy if you order something online and it doesn't work out.

this is good to know as I'm going to buy some Vittoria tires (tyres) for a couple bikes.

As for the Garmin devices - I love Garmin stuff ! but yeah the USB mini plugs do fail after several years use.

the Garmin Fenix (Watch) has a proprietary connector that seem much more positive, but would prolly increase the unit costs.

good thread, thanks !

I’ve bought tires from them many times. Maybe some socks too.

The prices are fine. If you do a super deep dive, sometimes there are lower prices elsewhere, but with limited sizes.

They’re simple to use and have fair prices. I’m pretty sure I ordered a new set of tires from them last year, while living in Portland.

How are they for returns? I just bought a couple of tires (on their way), but it turns out I don't need the tires.
I'll call when I get the tires.
Just read their policy. Looks pretty easy.

I have had one experience with them. It was not good. There won't be another.

Western Bike Works - branch of same company, co-located in Portland - sells most everything bike related.
