Some of my bikes have spoke protectors and some of them don't. And I too like pizza, but I don't think one would be a good spoke protector.

I keep the SunTour aluminum ones that look nice, but remove the plastic ones that tend to yellow

Oooh…clean! I wish my vintage sled looked like that! Am I feeling inspired? I was going to wash and get a coat of ceramic coating on the car today, but maybe getting the ol’ Motobecane spiffed up just took priority! Thanks!

I've removed mine. Sometimes within minutes of getting a new bike home, sometimes after a few years and the thing is loose. Having said that, just last weekend, for the first time ever, I threw a chain between the spokes and large cog on my MTB. Still not sure what happened, may have back pedaled at the wrong moment in an awkward situation.
Damn that chain was jammed in there. It took several minutes to get it out and I had some doubts I could even do it. Bike wouldn't roll, so I had thoughts of carrying the bike several miles. Not sure what the dork disk would have done differently. Maybe the chain wouldn't have come off at all, maybe the disk would have just been something else jammed in there making it even harder to pull the chain free, or maybe everything jammed up, but the disk would have made it easier to pull the chain out. I'll never know.

My favorite doesn't have one but I bought it used so it could have been removed.
2 of my 6 bikes have them. If they don't look ugly or aren't broken I'll normally just leave them alone
The one on my Trek isn't overly large and the Raleigh just seems right for the bike.

A Dork Disk is like Linus Van Pelt's security blanket, it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that there is a prophylactic protecting my spokes and derailleur from mating even though prophylactics are known to break.....
