I do love me some shiny silver, and having seem so many types of finishes of them, I think I prefer the raw kind that you can hand polish yourself. I have some sets of Specialized hubs from the early/mid 80's that are raw finish, and when hand polished are just stunningly shimmery and sparkly. I prefer that to the Phil Wood and any other anodized part I have. I don't care that the finish isn't sealed, or needs re-polished.

I've asked myself since the 80's "what's up with these g'damm black parts anyways ?" At least back in the beginning mtb days they were gloss black, not the lazy, cheap, dull, flat dead black en vogue today. I do have a few black parts that I've considered resorting to either oven cleaner stripping or media blasting, as my neighbor has one that uses suitable blasting media for aluminum I may be able to use.

I'd rather save the colorful painting for the frame.
