A full charge on a Garmin GPS unit will last longer than you are able to pedal in a day. If you are doing a multi-day trip then all you need to do is carry a portable charge pack.

The Garmin Edge computers will alert you to eat or drink at time or distance intervals that you specify.

Yes, I do that too.

I can be pretty slow depending on the terrain. :D How long is that time-wise?

LOL!!!! Back away from your computer screen and every electronic device in your house.

Such nonsense.

 If his fear applies equally to my wireless bike computer, I’m in big trouble.

Wonder if 10G is twice as dangerous than 5G or whether it’s like the Richter Scale.

I made myself a cue sheet last week to make sure I could get to the doctors office. looking at a map and planning a route is really difficult for me, couldn't do it even when I was supposed to when delivering food

The Garmin 1040 goes 35 hrs. The solar version much longer. With external batteries, you could likely go a week of usage..

Can confirm the first part; it will go even longer if you set it to less-than-max GPS precision.

A friend who has the 1040 Solar told me that it doesn't really add much runtime. Some, sure...But not enough to make it worth the extra $150 unless you really need max runtime.

The embolden. Uh, no, no where near. I've carried a battery stick, plugged into the 800, on all my long rides. As they say on the long distance forum, a century is not a long ride. Those little top tube bags work great for that.
