KOTM Hoods

Know nothing about this company (except I think they posted here last year about this project), but it looks like they may be reproducing STI hoods for several models.

Did they actually start producing and selling their hoods?

That's what prompted this post. I got an email today that said they "finally arrived!" Here's the cut-and-pasted email without the formatting (you can kind of see that most hoods will come in black and white):

A quick note to let you know that we will be accepting online orders on the 27th of February.

Please visit www.kotm.bike on this date.

The initial lineup will include:

Black White Tan/Gum ST-4600 Y

ST-6400 Y Y
ST-5500 + 6500 Y Y
ST-5600 + 6600 Y Y
ST-7700 Y Y
BL-7400 Y Y Y BL-7402 Y Y Y BL-1055 Y Y Y

The ST-7400 hood isn't far away either!

A potential for BL-7402 hoods would be fantastic. Mine are currently fine but have wanted white for those for a while but didn't want to pay NOS pricing.

White 7402s are available from Poland on eBay for $42 bucks. Maybe these will be cheaper, but may have the "KOTM" logo. The ones from Poland look like spot-on replicas.

You don't say...I am hoping this will be cheaper but if it is $42 including shipping I might be in.

Good luck on the business! Can you let us know what it is?

I want to get a pair myself, but I recently bought a NOS pair, and can't see myself pulling the trigger just to see if they're nice or not.

I'll be an early adopter of their 6500 hoods. I'm guessing a price around $50.

That would be cool unfortunately at the moment I am not dedicating to a vintage bike set up yet. That is a goal down the line to get more into vintage restorations and things like that but at the moment I have a lot of needed inventory that I know will make money. The NOS parts and modern replica parts aren't ones I am sure I can make money on in my spot yet. I know I have some passion and people are driven by the passion but knowing my market and all of that it is going to be a tougher sell at the moment.

I've manufactured and marketed stuff to markets WAY, WAY smaller than the C&V folks. Permanent stuff that doesn't need to be replaced every few years. And still somehow managed to sell out.

Believe it or not, it happens.

They should repop the hoods for the Suntour Superbe levers too. For whatever reasons the original hoods just regularly melted off of these brake levers. Most of the levers you see on Ebay either have no hoods or have some ill fitting Dia Compe hoods.

The prices seem pretty reasonable. Might have to try a set of 7402s.
