pedal boat
Does anyone here have a pedal boat? Are they fun to ride around a lake with a friend in? Would you reccomend for someone to get one?

I have rented them, and they are fun for a while.
I saw one on sale at Pep Boys, of all places, a few weeks back. Kind of slow. Seats aren't adjustable, didn't have clipless pedals, blah, blah. :D For the money, I'd rather have a kayak. |
google "waterbike" they ride alittle bit more efficently than "pedalboats"
They are fun if you want to putz around calm water for a little bit, but even the best ones are fairly slow, and the novelty wears off pretty fast. You would probably get a lot more enjoyment out of a kayak or "sit on top" kayak |
Don't own one, but have used some. Kind of boring. These look cool though.

i want that easy boat.
I've seen the flying fish in action. Pretty impressive. It would be cool if they actually manufactured it. Check out the entire url: http://www.artcenter.edu/exhibit/anthro/antique.html there is some neat stuff in there But personally, this is how I like to play on the water: http://www.hudsonboatworks.com/05paint/paintdesigns.htm |
Flying Fish
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...miker/fish.jpg[/QUOTE] WOW! The Flying Fish, designed by Alec Brooks and Allan Abbott, has reached a 100 meter speed of 20.06 mph/17.43 knots. It has been profiled in Scientific American, and Popular Science magazines. It features a catamaran type flotation system, allowing for a light, compact craft. The drive chain is twisted to eliminate a gear box, and uses a 1/4 inch chain. The rider pedals in a standard cycling position, which allows for the use of standard equipment during training. The 2000 meter speed for this vehicle is faster than the 2000 meter time for an 8-man rowing shell at the same site (The 1933 Olympic site in Long Beach), and nearly as fast as the current world record for an 8-man shell. |
Go to www.hobiecat.com and look at the mirage drive. I know someone that has one and he says it will fly
