I wear prescription glasses. For riding I have prescription transition lenses. Got them at Walmart because they over a nerdy sports glasses and I don’t want to spend the big buck. Anyway the transition lenses take about a week or two of use to speed up the transitioning. I have no issues going into dark tunnels. Use them on the motorcycle too. So if you have a pair of transitions glasses give them some time.

I went the cheap route that works well for me transitioning from pre-dawn, to dawn, to full sunlight. I wear yellow lensed bifocal safety glasses until I switch to brown lensed bifocal safety sunglasses. I can see this would not be a good solution if managing several transitions like traversing through tunnels or tree canopies. The yellow is especially good for me in perceiving contrast and avoiding objects like rocks on gray asphalt.
