I'm using bar end mirrors on both bikes. Big enough vibration's not a problem, and since I acquired one of TREK'S CarBack radar devices I get rearward feedback in much greater depth than with a mirror alone. Now they're used just to confirm proximity & scale, something the CarBack doesn't provide.
If Garmin's Varia (or similar) provides real-time video info to a front-mounted display (as would something like a GoPro) I'm unaware of it. That would negate having a mirror as well as removing the distraction of looking away from forward path. |

For those with bike-mount mirrors, doesn’t the vibration of the bike make the mirrors difficult? Asking for a friend.
I use it just like the side mirror on a car, quick glance at it once in a while to keep track of what's going on behind. I don't have drop bars, though. Don't how it'd fit on those. And I run 2" tires which must help. |
I found on my drop bar bikes larger mirrors like the Hafny large round one vibrate more and it harder to see cars. The smaller oval mirrors like the M wave spy oval work well. I used a CLHMY&Z small round flip down mirror. Tiny but worked well but the plastic pivot broke folding it out after wire a bit of use.
I have a Varia radar I use too with the mirrors. |
I primarily rely on my Varia radar unit, but I also have a Hafny Bar-end Mirror installed. Prior to getting the Varia unit, I relied on a Hafny mirror. When I got the Varia, the Hafny was already installed, so I just left it. Since then, and 3 bikes later, I continue to use both. If I was forced to have one or the other, though, the Varia would be my easy choice. I will not ride without it.

Helmet mirror for me. (Unless I’m riding in the woods on FS gravel.) On the road I would not leave home without out it. It’s more indispensable than a water bottle IMO. I watch every car approaching from the rear, always ready to hit the ditch. It’s the most important piece of safety gear a person can ride with, again, IMO.
And I couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks. |

I use a hand made helmet mirror. A mirror inside a bottle cap on the end of a spoke. . . . .
