To get a reply for questions like this, you will probably have to do some local recruiting for the Bike Forum. By the way, what kind of a day was it?

Ha!

Funny... but I could see myself heading out there one day soon for a trip. Iceland sounds like a dream... really.

No more stopovers in Reykjavik on my way to Sweden- I'm making me a cycling vacation, courtesy of Islenska!

that's just the thing...there's no one to recruit!

but, it was the first sunny day in ages -- temp in the low 60's. i set off around 8 pm and the wind was not too bad (you don't know wind until you've pedaled the north atlantic coast) until i got to the hills outside of town where it was fierce -- so i took some off-road trails to one of my favorite grassy spots to pratice 'cross dis/mounts and then headed back (with a strong tailwind) into the setting sun...at 10:30 pm! our days are getting rapidly shorter, and fall is in the air. (summer was only about 4 days long....but boy were those 4 days nice. i actually wore shorts!).

I was stationed in Keflavik back in the 70's and I remember in the summer when the temps got up into the balmy 60's people were outside in their shorts working on their tans.

Yeah, I know. I always flew to Stockholm through BWI. Unfortunately, Iceland Air doesn't fly out of Chicago, which is strange... O'Hare has just about every airline flying out of there. But now that I live close to BWI, it'll be a snap to get there, so I can restart my jaunts to Scandinavia et al.

Islenska, I'm taking you up on your offer. I know the winters are bad, but I would love to visit in the wintertime, maybe new years?

Iceland has always been my plan B - If life ever got so...unbearable - I promised myself I would pack it all up and move to Iceland. I have never been - but I figured It would be a great place to start over again.
