New Bowflex C6 and HIIT

I have just picked up the C6 after years of using the Schwinn Upright 130 and then the 170. I think the bike is decent, but there are some things I don't like. The seat is not comfortable. I don't like that the cadence isn't displayed in numbers. One thing that takes some getting use to is the fact that the crankset is directly linked to the drive train - there is no coasting. (Is that considered a live axle)?
Let's talk about speed. It seems wildly inaccurate. When I start off it's at 10 MPH immediately even though I am pedaling slowly and goes up to 30 easily. Oddly, as the resistance is turned up the speed increases. What???
Would MyWhoosh give more accurate information, or does it just use what the bike gives it?

Has anyone done HIIT on this machine? Any suggestions? I have been warming up at 25% resistance, cranking it up to 50% and alternating that way. It seems to work. I'm going to build a workout on MyWhoosh for HIIT.

Might be more appropriate to post here: https://www.bikeforums.net/indoor-stationary-cycling-forum/

There is no such thing as "speed" on a stationary bike. That is literally in the description of the machine itself. So, no mythical measure of "speed" is any more "accurate" than any other.

Workouts on stationary bikes/bicycle trainers are measured by time and by some measure of effort (e.g. heart rate, power, RPE).

Exercise bikes are very much built to a price for the masses.
This makes real & accurate data hard to find, but for the purpose of most exercise bikes it’s not really a requirement.

You could add Garmin Rally power meter pedals.
These would output real data for power and cadence (rpm) and permit use of a 3rd party display (example iPad) or application (example zwift).
The bad news, the pedals will cost more than the bike sells for currently.
The Zwift Ride might have been the cheaper, but more complex purchase.

Will do. I looked at other forums but missed that. I'll see if I can delete this thread. Thanks.

5282guy , I looked at your bike integration options and it seems to fully integrate with Rouvy for virtual riding.

Hey thanks I'll check that out!

I have the C6 also.
I use the JRNY app, which gives a numerical cadence readout, as well as calories/min and calories burned. I agree with you that the speeds (and distance) are not realistic, but I don't count stat9onary miles anyway.
JRNY has a lot of workouts, with either videos of live trainers or a virtual coach. I find it much more engaging than just riding on my own, and end up pushing harder than I would on my own. you can use a phone or tablet for the app.

If the saddle is replaceable that is an easy and not expensive fix.
Is there a 'calibration' mode to make sure the system is accurate.
Cadence is easy...count pedal strokes/one side only for ten seconds and multiply the number of strokes by six equals rpm. My Kickr v5 cadence is off by 5 so when it shows 85rpm it is really 90...Its always been like this as was my old Kickr v1 or 2...I forgot...not a big deal just something to always be aware of.
Is there a firmware/software update available?
Wow the device is fairly compatible with all the digital platforms...do you any of them or just ride to the built in display? If display only you might want to take advantage of the two week trial they all offer and maybe subscribing to one of them. They are more interesting than staring at a display that may or may not be accurate.
Perhaps you will have to call customer support to see if there may be a problem and remedy to your concerns.
Good luck and keep us informed...
