One Less Car

Saw the aftermath of a fatal car crash in Fremont this AM. Honda Civic in three pieces. Went off Mission BLVD at very high speed early this morning according to the cops. One part wrapped around a tree, another part against sound wall, third part around another tree 40 feet away.

I've never seen that before.
Driver got the Darwin Award.

I got a ticket for going up the sidewalk around the police tape for a better look.

Are you sure it wasn't a ticket for being sick!
When a member of your family dies are you going to post pictures of the corpse for us to see?

I'm wondering why he felt the need for "a better look". It was clear what happened, surely there are better things to do than stare at wreckage or corpses.

ease up on the rubberneck.
it's very normal to want to see, part of the human impulse and in some ways a healthy impulse.

and you can't complain too much about a ticket. The cops, fire and emts have a job and need to secure their area. People wandering in to take a look get in the way and are a danger to themselves and others... (seen too many looking loo's smoking around a leaky car wreck or walking around live power lines etc...)

hope the ticket isn't too much though...

When the car ran into our house the other night, I called 911. The dispatcher kept asking if anyone was injured, I couldn't say. There was no one around the car and I told the dispatcher that I was NOT going to look inside the car for fear I'd find a body. My SO felt the same way. The dispatchers response was understanding and told me to wait, the police would be there in a few minutes. As it turned out there was no one in the car.

Maybe to some people it is a normal impluse to want to "see" but to us it was not! We are very thankful we did not have to face such a tragedy.
