Help finding right shoes

I recently bought a indoor exercise bike and don't know anything about cycling shoes. Can anyone tell me what type of cleats i need in order to clip onto these pedals? It has the regular toe cage on the other side but a lot of people said i can apply more force if i use cycling shoes. It's a AI carol bike so it takes the force you apply every workout to determine how hard your next workout will be.

From the Carol website -
Pedals = Dual-sided toe cage and SPD click pedals, to maximize rider efficiency.

Shimano SPD cleats, a 2 hole mount on the shoe is what you need.

Foot retention is only necessary if you can't keep your feet on the pedals. Usually that is at very high cadence. So if the other side of the pedal doesn't require a special shoe, you might use that. At least until you have done two or three months of work on the machine and know that it's not just going to become a fixture in your bedroom to hang clothes on.

Does look like SPD. Are you certain they didn't provide the cleats with the machine. They look like this.....

And you'll need shoes that are made to attach the SPD cleats to. Which need 2 holes. Don't confuse for SPD-SL shoes that have a entirely different 3 hole pattern for the cleat and pedal attachment.

You could use the other side of the pedals with regular shoes (jogging or walking shoes or court/tennis shoes or ???), then decide later if you want to go with bicycle-specific shoes. You may even decide to just take off those dual sided pedals and get some regular 'flat' pedals and continue using regular shoes. FWIW I use flat pedals with tennis court shoes for all my bike riding. You do you.

I'm beginning to lean in that direction as well. After two seasons of trying SPD's then 'Eggbeaters' and a pair of Whahoo Speedplays I have two pairs of shoes and a collection of pedals that leave me feeling less motivated to ride anything save my 'flat' pedaled (the LOOK SPD's I cut the cleat stuff off of) MB commuter.

Doesn't take long to move those from one bike to another. Weather's more the main factor now over pedal / bike choice. Trainer's got flats, I need to get with the habituation of using it PDQ.
