Red Bicyclette
At about the time of the TdF, I started seeing in some grocery stores in Northern Virginia displays for a wine called Red Bicyclette. French from Pays D'oc, imported by Gallo. The usual varities - Merlot, Chardonnay, Syrah. Seems to be a basic table wine.
The label says "easy to enjoy, as easy as riding a bicycle."
Anyone else seen this around? Anyone tried it?

I tried it. The Syrah, as I recall. Not bad, but I think you can get better for the price. Which is too bad, because I like the label.

It has been in the stores around here for a while. It is potable stuff, not very complex. I agree with Blackberry; you can do better at the price. The label is cool, though. It would be fun to serve to a bunch of cyclists.

I saw an online review for it and similar wines that described it as "Simple, affordable, slightly sweet and slurpable wines marketed through attractive and sometimes zany packaging."

Blackberry and regularguy are right. You can definately do better, but it's not awful. I buy it on occasion just so I can gaze at the label as I drink it.

I tried it at a function at the French Embassy. It wasn't too bad. Simple is a good description, but drinkable.

I collect cycling stuff, so I bought a bottle just to add to my collection.
Not too bad, considering I'm not a wine person. I rarely drink alcohol anyway.
