Suspicious activity in San Francisco

Anybody in SF know anything about a homeless encampment under the new off ramp at South Van Ness and Duboce? I was going by there yesterday and some guy was parting out a not to old Raleigh. On a second glance wheels, frames, and other bike parts were marginally covered by tarps. Looks like a bicycle chop shop.

Report it to SFPD. Hopefully, they will investigate.

Did. Said they would. The dispatcher indicated they receive calls all the time.

I saw a real bum type with what looked like a pristine old classic bike, that that didn't fit and told the cops. A few days later I got a good look at the bike and it wasn't that great, then I felt bad about narc'ing on the guy.

Rated the worst single ever according to Blender Magazine.

I think Danno must have blocked Jefferson Starship from his memory. I wish that I could. Worst decline of a formerly good band I have ever witnessed.

Jisho,
Is the bike "shop" still in operation under the bridge?

I used to work near 5th and Townsend, and those guys or someone very much like them hung out around the 280 off ramp at 6th and Townsend. It was like a homeless team putting bikes togetehr with pliers. Generally, they sucked, but I did see a few nice parts. The pliers as the main tool scared me the most.

Actually what scares me the most is the guy who used to ride by down there every day totally tweaked out on a bike with no brakes and maybe a 10" wide pipe as handlebars.

I've seen one of those scruffy folks riding around on a bike put together with pliers. He didn't even have brake-levers, he'd reach over and pull up on the cable whenever he wanted to slow down....
