bikes are awesome
bikes are sweet
bikes are transport faster than feet

from the bike shop
or toys r us
bikes are cheaper than taking the bus

no matter why you pedal
for work or play
riding a bike does not make you gay
(not that there's anything wrong with that!)

wherever your destination
if it's nearer than far
you don't need to bring your crappy car

motorists will try to kill you
wherever you ride at
don't worry about it, they're all typically fat

Ahem…

I've often thought
How much I'd like
to be the saddle
of a lady's bike…

I cheat the wind-
crisp air is shattered,
as I fly.

This isn't mine, but it's about bikes and it's a very touching poem even if you don't know the guy: https://jadecycles.com/mikejones.html

Also the bikes are pretty good.

Just made this up for this thread.

Every day
The same old thing
The loudness, stress.
The phones that ring.

The irate people
The demanding boss
Good days go by
It's such a loss.

The time clock says
My shift is due
It's time for me--
For me and you.

Our trusty bikes
We'll take a ride.
A time to chill,
Put things aside.

The air so crisp,
We'll feel the wind.
The relaxation can
Finally set in.

No pressure here,
There's no more noise.
This bike's part me
And not "a toy".

The beauty in
This place around
I see and hear
The natural sounds.

There is no end
To where we'll go
As time can't stop-
A true cyclist knows.

I hope I was man enough!

Bikes? Yikes!
Just as I've come
round to trikes.
Could be worse--
not a hearse or
belching SUV.
Look, see it's me
riding no hands.
This is one of my best likes!

There once was a man from Nantucket
Who had such a bike he could "huck" it
While wiping his chain he once
Grimaced in pain-
If my bike had a new shock it would rock....

OK... it sucks-the original is better LOL

Pixie waits
Upon the porch
She wants to dance away
The air is soft
The sun is bright
It's time to go and play
And so I laugh
And free her chains
And put her lock away
I'll ride her where
The wind is free
Until the end of day

(Pixie is my Triumph. She's little and blue... )

Faster and faster
The years fall behind
Each stroke of the pedal
Devouring time
I'm forty-five, thirty,
Fifteen; now I'm ten
As free as a child
Race the wind once again
Swoop down the hill
Send a shout to the skies
Laughing and light and
Completely alive!

There once was a man from Madrid
Who an a bike auction did bid
He brought home his Shimano
Cleaned his chain with some TriFlow
While his car grew cobwebs and rust!

I think that I shall never see
anything quite so cunning as the attack-mode tree.
While it will allow passage to the occasional hiker,
it lays in waiting for the unsuspecting biker.
The tree will play it's game of stealth
planning havoc on the biker's health.
You may be riding singletrack, and think it's clear,
unaware the attack-mode tree is near
until the tree makes it presence known
and from the bicycle you are thrown.
Tree appears-as if from nowhere
to send the cyclist through the air.
Tree plays the game of fox and hound
trying to take poor cyclist down
Tree may be upright, reaching for the sky,
or across the biker's path may lie.
Only one thing is truly sure
attack-mode tree will surely endure
all of our efforts to miss or dodge it,
unless cut down and we dislodge it
But much less fun the ride would be
without the cat and mouse game
of attack-mode tree.

Disclaimer-no actual trees were harmed in the writing of the above-as for cyclists**********???

The frozen ice
Is so white
As I glide along
I wonder if it notice
My frozen bike
As I glide along
I don't care
My wheels grip
My mental train is clear.
I fly faster down the lake
Now I have snow
Pushing at my tires
I feel a rush in my lungs
My feet burn from cold
I am a winter cyclist!

What am I on?

People want to know what I am on...

What am I on? I'm on my sixty seven centimeter custome steel Rock

Lobster bicycle. It's painted british racing green with yellow labels,

Mavic open pro rims with Michelin Axial Performance tires.

The sprocket, front deralier and brakes are Ultegra,

evrething else is Dura Ace. Ritchey stem. Ego power handle bar.

Sella Italia yellow leather saddle with titanium rails,

Look 296 racing pedals. Schimano flight deck; cordless and intergrated

in the hoods for finger tip trip information and stats!

Thompson titanium mountain post. Chris King threadless head set,

two yellow Elite bottle cages, and a thirty cubic inch Pearl Izumi tale gate for

the bare minumim tools that are required when riding, cruzing, rolling
,
free wheeling,climbing,moving,spinning,sprinting,flying, crashing, dancing on

your pedals, pulling aay from the peleton,

trying desperatly to rejoin the back end of the peleton after the Postal

Boys started a very fast tempo that has stretched the peleton long and thin.

Their speed is unrelentless...

they want to launch their Captain, Mr.Lance Armstrong into orbit at the base

of Mount Ventox long before any other rider in this powerfull peleton does!!!!

THIS POEM WAS INSPIRED BY A LANCE ARMSTRONG COMMERCIAL

This occurred to me on the way home from work Friday. There were huge clouds of small yellow butterflies; they were clustered in large, flat yellow patches on edge of the road, and when I went by, these clusters would explode and suddenly there would be butterflies everywhere. Every time, at least two or three would be wheeling frantically out of the way of my glasses like little X-Wings trying to miss the Star Destroyer.

I am not a man on a bike;
There's fire in this belly
And burning thighs
And endless sweat
In burning eyes,
But I flies, and I flies,
And I flies.

Fuzzy yellow puddles
Burst and splash
And all around
Above and below
Are butterflies. . .
And I flies,
And I flies
And I flies.

It needs more thought, but I'm convinced there's something there.

At home I sit
With this broken down Sh#t
My rim is bent
And my nipples are stripped

The grease is covering me
from head to toe
The frame is crackling
The brakes are slow

My STI has snapped
My headset is creaking
And all this trouble
has got me seeking...

The reason why I bother
With these pedal bikes
Its for days like yesterday
Where everything GODDAMN WORKED

I wrote and posted this previously under the thread "Welcome to BikeForums"

I'm buying a bike and I need advice
Is this a good model that's worth the price?
I'm new to riding so it must be steady
Oh, did I mention I bought it already?

What's the highest gear I should use?
What's that smell inside my shoes?
I heard about a new kind of light
It needs no battery - Does that sound right?

What's the best bike for me to buy?
If I run a red light, will I die?
What kind of food do you all eat?
Who makes the most comfortable seat?

How much do you think I should weigh?
How far does everyone ride each day?
Which brake lever should I use the most?
I think I bent my carbon seat post!

Do you ever wonder about your bike fit?
What does it mean to "Google it"?
Does anyone know where to buy a trike?
Why do squirrels keep attacking my bike?

Drafting, Drafting,
Over the hill and glen
I don't work hard,
I just stay right behind Ben
