LBS in Buffalo
In a couple weeks I will be going to Buffalo, New York for the weekend. I wanted to go into a couple LBS while I was there. I hear the American stores are cheaper then the Canadian stores. I will be staying at the Hampton Inn by the Walden Galleria Mall. I know my way around Buffalo very well, its just the last time I was there I wasnt really into bikes so I didnt look out for any bike shops. Can anyone recommend a good bike shop to me. If they have a website, thats even better. I dont want the most expensive shop though and I dont wanna be driving for an hour.

There is a shop on the west side of 62 (Niagra Falls BLVD) just a couple blocks south of I-290. They had a huge selection of Trek, Giant and other bikes, but seemed a little weak on components / parts / accessories at the time I was in Buffalo a couple years ago. I managed to get out of the shop in under 2 hours with only minor melting of my credit card. ;)
It's worth a look if you get the chance. |
FWIW, since the Canadian peso is worth so little compared to the US dollar, Americans can get stuff cheaper from Canadian mail-order companies that from most local stores. I'm going to be up in Toronto next month, and the prices at LaBicicletta are quite a bit less than what I'd pay locally once the exchange rate is considered (especially since the GST can be refunded at the border).

yah its the little things tho.. i remeber seeing an item here for 80bux CDN and only 29.99 american at a store.. So i just wanted to check the stores out. Also, what is that tax % in New York. 6% or 8% or what.

New York state has a 4% sales tax. Most large counties upstate (Erie, Niagara, Monroe, etc) add another 4%. In NYC, they add 4.5%.
