I seem to be doing a lot of solo riding. Even when I'm with a group they may not know important information about me. Where do you keep your ID while riding? And Police and EMTs Where do you look for ID information. I carry a camelback with a business card, it isn't much info, but it is a start. My husband may carry his wallet in his saddle bag. Would they even look in there? Just wondering if the worse happens?

I have a small, flat pouch (about 3"x4" with a zipper on top) in which I carry an old medical insurance card and my drivers license, along with $5 'mad money'. I carry it in a jersey pocket.

I've gopt a bag under my seat with emerency tools, tube, contact lens stuff, money, and ID. I add stuff like my wallet, pager, etc... if I am commuting.

I got a luggage tag. and folded and stuffed the following:

zerox'd my Driver's license, insurance card, and a typed note saying who to call and that " you have my authorization to do what ever it takes to keep me and 1sweetroadie alive" (and charge it to the insurance company).

There is a website called roadid.com that sells id tags for cyclist, joggers and such. They have a dog tag that you wear or wrist and ankle as well as one that clips to your shoe. The neat thing about them is you can get a graphic like mountain biker or road bike on one side and your personal info on the other along with medical info or whether your a organ donor and blood type if you know it.

I just ordered one and there only like $24.99. Could save your life if your by yourself especially if you have medical problems which I do.

When I renewed my drivers license I got a state ID card too.I was always forgeting to get my license out of my seatbag after a ride.On the back of the state ID I wrote my emergency contact # and its got places for blood type and medical info.Stays on the bike.Think I should write should write something on there about care for my bike in case I'm unconscious?:confused:

I just got my dog tags from Poundmaster I got a double set with silencers for under $13.00. They have my name DL# (never put your SSN on anything) Blood type, Allergies and four emergency contact #'s. I do pretty much the same as Raiyn. I went to the Army Surplus place and had dogtags stamped up. They come in pairs. I attach one to me and one to my backpack. I think they cost me about $7.

My wife insisted that I wear some kind of id.

I'm with gabiker. I ordered an ankle ID band from roadid.com. Got it two weeks ago. I wear it whenever I'm riding.

I also have information in my helmet.
When I'm commuting I have my wallet in my panniers.

The reason I got the RoadID was in case my bike, panniers, and helmet got ripped off after an accident. Some people will take anything. :irritated

The RoadID has everything the police or paramedics need, except blood type. That information is on my helmet ID.

Hope I never find myself in a situation where the RoadID is "needed". :eek:

I wear a road ID called the ankle, it's a velcro band with an engraved stainless steel ID tag attached to it, it's light and comfortable, you just strap it around your ankle over your sock and can't tell it's there. The thing is, it's going with you after an accident and not staying with the bike. when someone takes your sock off, they will find it.

I ordered the dog tag road id just so I would have it on all the time. I have a tendacy to forget things which I guess goes along with getting older. ;) I think all of them are good though.

Pouch under seat contains a copy of my passport with my current address and phone number scribbled on it, a phone card, some cash, and a few tools.

I also made up a sticker with my name, address, phone which I stuck to the inside of my helmet. Hopefully, the medics will think to pry the thing from my head or at least ruffle through my seat pack.

But, even more hopefully, they'll never have to.

I never think to carry id...thanx for the idea though :) Probably a laminated photocopy of my birth cirt, sin, and health card number
