The price of gas goes up again

yesterday it was 103.4, and now this morning it is 108.4. That's an increase of 5 cents in one day. Is this due to the fact that there is a long weekend this week or is it due to the Hurricane in Louisiana? or maybe both.

What is that, dollars per liter? Can't relate, man. We're paying between 2.50 and 3.00 / gallon down here.

Here in Phoenix, Circle K's are running out of gas. While my wife was waiting in line, yes in line, for gas yesterday an attendent came out and raised the price 20 cents while she was sitting there.

I've heard that $4.00 per gallon is not out of the question.
Stations here in Dallas area have raised gas 20 to 25 cents from
Monday morning to this morning. I've heard we have topped $3.00
per gallon in the area, but I haven't seen that. If so it's 45 cent jump
since Monday morning.
Yes it's due to the Hurricane.

People in Georgia are freakin' out. Rumors of a gas shortage have people flipping out. And the gas stations are more than happy to price gouge the consumer.

Get ready for more gas pain.
The story line is staight out of FX's "Oil Storm" Docudrama shown recently, and poo-pooed by most.
https://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/orig...torm/main.html
Look at the synopsis.

https://www.usatoday.com/money/indust...ery-usat_x.htm

Moreover, deliveries of foreign oil to the USA's largest offshore oil port, the Louisiana Offshore Oil Platform, have been suspended since Saturday, cutting off about 1 million barrels a day of crude.

And Louisiana's Port Fourchon, which normally processes 18% of domestic oil and gas and 13% of U.S. energy imports, suffered extensive storm damage and is now inaccessible due to floodwaters, the Energy Department said.

Energy experts said it could be weeks or months before production is fully restored because a shortage of crude supplies combined with widespread electricity outages also shut down most of the region's refineries and pipelines.

Thanks, within a thee mile radius I spotted gas for $4.99, $2.89, $3.19, $3.99 and $3.29 per gallon. Luckily I live near the cheapest gas, for when I need some, but I think I live without driving for a while.

Same here, I filled my van up on Sunday (35 gal tank) at 2.69. The very next day it went to 2.79, and today it's probably 2.89.

The van is parked with a locked gas cap. The bike and BART train can get me everywhere I need to go.

I've cut out future out of town bike centuries, will enjoy the excellent riding around San Fransisco Bay.

This weekend is the SF Grand Prix bike races. I can go on the BART to that.

Yeah, but this time the death and destruction was real. Does that make you feel warm and fuzzy?

Docudrama? More like bad sci-fi.

Same deal here on the other side of the 'daks. I actually drove into work today cause of the rain, $2.81 in the morning, $3.25 coming home. The spread between regular and ultra went for 20 to 50 cents.

more extreme, but they were selling gas as fast as it could be pumped.

My local station with 24 pumps, $2.89/gallon is sold out of grades of gas.

I'd call your states Department of Transportation (I think is the right place). Report the $4.99 and $3.99 place as gas gougers.

I've been on about this on another cycling forum, asking what it would take to get people out of their cars. I've seen no decrease in motor vehicles and increase in cyclists on the roads here, so I guess NZ$1.53/litre (US$1.06/litre or US$4.13/gallon) isn't enough. There is supposedly and increase in small car sales though.

This morning I filled up at Krogers for 2.39. When I went to lunch it was 2.99. I figure if I commute to work I can save enough to join the YMCA next to work so I can go to work presentable and have enough extra cash to buy a new bike, new riding cloths, shoes and helmet. Just a thought.

Anyone thinking the same thing?
