What creative locking solutions do you use? Do you go off the deep end like I do when it comes to locks? My old college roommate thought I was nuts when I locked my bike to my desk in my room with a motorcycle anti-theft chain (precurser to the chains now on the market).
Here's my beefy lock! It's a Rock Lock Mini LS (the coin is a quarter to provide some scale). I beefed it up with custom-made "Bad Bones" to fill in any extra space left over and increase it's strength against leverage attacks. They're drilled to fit various-sized locks. The pipe fitting helps thwart hammer blows and freezing (even though this method is mostly urban legend). The red color is a polymer coating used for tool handles.
Kryptonite says they'll replace it with an Evo 2000, whose beefyness pales in comparison to this. At the time this lock was the BEST u-lock around - beefy and narrow. I'm of the opinion that it should be replaced with a NY 3000, since its retail price is about the same -- and it's the flagship model like the Rock was.

Would you part with this for a NY3000? If Kryptonite will exchange my standard (non-mini width) Rock Locks for NY3000's, then I would do it. But given this lock's unique qualities and that it can't be picked with the Bic method, I'll probably hang on to this baby.
I know we don't want to give away our secrets to thieves, but I'd love to see any other fanatic locking ideas! (Pee Wee Herman was a GENIUS with a chain!)

I've had two bikes stolen from indoors... makes sense to lock it up wherever it is.

Sure, if your secret weapon is a high-rpm angle grinder, oxy-acetylene torch, or jaws of life. And the Bic isn't a secret anymore (won't work anyway), so what am I missing?
