Ok, I'm gonna give the seller a few days to reply; has failed to do so yet, but may be out of town. But doesn't "New In Box" mean "unused"?
I've went through several different HRM's looking for the right one, & ordered one off ebay that came today. There's white in the cracks of the wrist band, & white in the cracks of the chest transmitter, & a small scratch on the metal facing. Product was advertised as new in box; seller has over 100 comments with a 99.3% feedback rating. Anyone disagree with me that this definetly is not new?
1st pic show scratch (small) upper left corner
2nd pic looks like dried sweat embedded in the wrist band cracks
3rd pic sure looks like dried sweat around the battery cover, & on the sensor window (or whatever you call it).
I will give time for the seller to respond before I post his site & warn everyone here. I've got like 130 comments & 100% positive, & never had this happen before on ebay.

Unique Vintage Steel
Photos are a bit dark so it's hard to really see what is there. Suggest taking some more photos in brighter light. Hope the best, and yes, New In Box should mean unused, never used, hopefully still shrink wrapped or sealed.

Lightened the pic's.
At least the guy is in contact with me about "receiving" it, but hasn't responded yet as to it being used. Maybe it will work out ok.

The bad thing about the feedback system on Ebay is after you leave him neutral or negative feedback he can do the same to you.
I consider myself lucky so far. All of my dealings on Ebay have been great. It only takes one dikhead to screw things up.

He offered to discount me 25% of sale, or let me return for full refund. I took the discount, but it's been a little while, so we'll see if that comes through.

- ebay is a horrid place to do business from the viewpoint of a buyer... but my main beef was with Paypal... was given a limit to purchase via my CC, but when you spend over the limit, you're supposed to allow Paypal to 'link' to one of your bank accounts?
- i don't think so!

Howdy,
I have been using Ebay for several years now and have not had a single problem. As far ad the HRM goes, a little bit of Lysol or Chlorox will take care of the Bio contamination...

What's really bad - this guy is just across the state from me, the shipping took longer than from California, & he takes forever to return emails.

This doesn't help the immediate case, but is food for thought...
I've done a lot of business on ebay. You get along fine as long as you understand its risks and limitations. The items I buy on ebay are for the most part things I can't find anywhere else (antique tin models that I collect) or things that are very low priced (books). For new or almost new bike equipment, I always check with online retailers, and usually go that route because ebay often isn't any cheaper and isn't nearly as safe.
For example... I wanted to get a Cateye CDW300 computer, with wireless cadence. Checked ebay - ones billed as new were going for $110, while the one or two used units were $80-90.
I checked my favorite online retailers - ended up buying it from cbike.com for $120. It arrived two days later, brand new in the box, like everything else I have bought from them, and I can use a credit card with a reasonable certainty that it won't be misused.
On the other hand, I have taken advantage of the September-October dip in prices to snap up some used cycling parts that otherwise I wouldn't have bought. Last year, I got a clean set of Zipp 404's for $600, and Cinelli RAM bars for $200. But you have to watch and wait for deals like that.
If you're buying new or near new cycling equipment, always check with a couple of reputable online retailers first. Quite often, they sell it for the same or less than it brings on ebay.
