Golden - Denver bike route
Well, like many others I have been riding my bike ore than driving of late and would like to continue. Fortunately I can now move to Golden (from north Denver) which is great but I would like to find a good route to downtown Denver where I work.
I'm looking pretty much in Golden because it's closest to tons of mountain biking and rock climbing but would consider something else in the area if there was a good bike route to downtown. I don't mind long rides and even bought a road bike recently! (big change for a lifer dirt bag).

You can take the Clear Creek Trail to the North Platte Trail right into Denver.

Wow, talk about quick results. How is the trail? I assume it runs near highway 6? Perhaps down highway 58 or so?

No the trail actually runs down along I-70 in some parts. It starts in Golden too. I'm sure if you went to a bike store it and get a map it will show you the route. I can also meet up with you on a weekend to show you too if you liked. Its an good trail. It will hook up right to Confluence Park and then you should know that Confluence Park is the major hub for most of Denver's bike route???

It starts near Golden between 32nd and 44th Ave and then wanders north to around 76th Ave out in Commerce City (Around Steele St.). From there you have to come west and south on the Platte to west of Broadway and a bit south of 25th Ave. So you are going 30 blocks too far north and 10 or 15 blocks too far east. Nice for a weekend ride or just messing around but if you want to get back and forth to work, it's not as good.
