Maybe he was just checking out your wheels, and squinting from the sun. Right?
or...maybe not.

Or maybe he was just looking to see if you were going to throw yourself under his truck. I see a lot more bike riders taking liberties with the rules than I ever have a trucker... not that they are all wonderful people by any means. It's just that when a truck takes on almost anything else...the anything else loses.
Who knows what goes on the mind of someone else. But for what it's worth, I can understand how being involved in a close call with a truck in the past makes it easier to jump to an automatic defensive position.
Personally, I wish they'd get rid of SUV driving idiots....talk about death on wheels.

After I got stopped and ran back to see whether or not she was dead (she was unhurt amazingly, the SUV was destroyed), she told me, and I quote, "I'm sorry, I didn't see you." I was driving a bright yellow, 11 foot high semi-truck, with white trailers full of bright red tomatoes, and I had my lights on, and it was 1:00 pm on a sunny cloud free day, there were no obstructions what-so-ever that would have been in her line of sight, and she didn't see me. So I have to agree-- wish they'd get rid of the SUV driving idiots. Good thing I wasn't on a bike.

1. Please don't take this wrong but are you a guy or a girl, truckers love to look at chicks. By your username I'd guess your a guy, but what the heck do I know.
2. He could have been checking out your bike.
3. Maybe he was staring you down on purpose so you wouldn't do anything crazy like jump out in front of him.
Then again he could just hate bikers.

Rear ender, run under, roll over, sitting duck, or at fault fatality crashes will end driving careers at most front line companies. Even the few who qualify as sociopathic need a paycheck and understand this. Reason enough to believe that this driver was doing nothing more than making sure he didn't grind you into the pavement.
Unfortunately drivers of big trucks do some not so smart things, as do we all. Except with trucks the results are magnafied because of the size and weight involved. It a good practice to give big trucks plenty of room and plenty of attention.
There is a book titled Driver, by Phillip Wilson which chronicles a refridgerated truck driver's first month or so as a trainee. Not a page turner, but lots of insight into the world of over the road trucking. These guys earn their money.

So the answer to my question then is.....
Some truckers hate all cyclist. Some don't.
And some cyclist hate all truckers. Some don't.
Some truckers hate all cyclist. Some don't.
And some cyclist hate all truckers. Some don't.
