Help! All my bikes are looking alike!

Help! All my rides are looking way too similar and it's freaky!

I've currently got 4 bikes - a road bike, a schwinn cruiser, a long haul trucker, and a rigid mountain bike.

I've been doing fall maintenence on them, greasing and tuning, and have noticed very similar characteristics between them all...

saddles all at about the same heigth, main handlebar position heigth and reach about equal. The three triangle frames all have the top tube at the same heigth.

But they are all morphing into similarly outfitted rides too- aside from individual differences (dual racks on the LHT, no rack on the road, back rack on the mountain, baskets on the cruiser,)

They all have Brooks saddles, some with springs, some without.

my 700 c bikes both can take fat tires. I have 37s on both for the winter. I'm loyal to Continental tires, and like gumwalls.

When I buy fenders, I buy SKS. When I need a saddlebag, I buy Jannd. My panniers are Ortleibs.

Two bikes have Tubus racks in the back.

They all get an Incrediblebell mounted at four o clock on the left.

Everything shifts friction.

It's just freaky. Four distinctly different bikes, all looking almost the same.

Does anybody else notice a distinctly similar look between all your rides?

I think you just know what you like. I have 3 bikes and they are all black and not flashy (an Allez, a Cross-Check and a Cannondale MTB). Although the set ups are different between the bikes, I have the same situation here. I would not sweat it.

That's just what happens. If I lined up all of my bikes in a row, the seats and the handlebars would form two parallel lines that would satisfy a Marine Drill Instructor.

Uh - Did you ever notice how much people tend to look like their dogs?

Have you seen the fixer's bikes - they all grew giant moustaches? Like Saddam in drag.

Consistancy is good. You obviously know how to set up different types of bikes to your riding style. As far as brand loyalty goes, you know what you like and what works well.

My seat levels are close, but I find it hard to get my drop bars at the same level as my flat bar. LOL.

Enjoy the ride.

Hey, that sounds like a blessing to me! Either you have 4 bikes that really suit you and you use for different purposes or,.. you got four bikes that are rather alike in performance and even function which means you theoretically sell the two "worst" ones and make some loot... both sounds good to me.

Same rider, so same set-up is hardly surprising. If it's really worrying you, you could always get different colored handle bar tape, or grips. What about large aggressive decals? No, I thought not...

Bekologist, it sounds to me like you have a cool fleet. I'd love to own any of them, the way you have them set up!

All my bikes look alike too. Oh wait. I only have one. ;-)

What is so bad about your bikes resemble each other? It seem to be only a form of using what works for you, rather than what works for everyone else which might not work for you as well. You are sticking to a tried and true approuch to your comfort in cycling.

What's so bad about that?
