Red Flannel anyone?
 

I'm betting on decent weather - anyone doing the Red Flannel Metric this year?

I was considering it, then I looked at the description of the route and will be there if the weather is decent. I used to love doing the hills in and out of the Vermillion river reservation. The MS150 used to use that as the lunch stop.

My GF grew up out there. Mill Hollow and Vermillion hills are supposedly decent climbs, though most of the route is supposed to be flat-rolling.

Interesting. I have friends in Oberlin, so I am now considering it. Thing is... Is it really worth going out of the way for a 62-mile ride? I don't mean to be a snob, and I'm certainly not in any kind of great shape, but I did almost 60 this morning before lunch. I just don't understand why anyone would drive a significant distance for such a short ride.

It's not the length of the ride, 60 miles is a typical weekend ride for me. It's just something different than my normal commuting or day touring. Sometimes it is a nice change of pace to ride an organized ride with people you know as well as people you meet for the first time. Munchies ain't bad either, and the Red Flannel is kind of a tradition, the last organized ride of the season for a lot of folks.
