im curious, do they make a quality bike? i havent heard anything bad about them and i found what i think is a great deal on a mountain bike $200 full suspension done by mozo and shimano guts, XR150, and yes to top it off i found it at wal mart, now before i walk right into a sink hole tell me what you think:

do they make a quality bike? No!, stay away from any bike you find in X-mart... Mongoose does make some nice bikes, but your not going to find them at walmart. Here is a website that will get you started on the correct path: http://www.bikesrnottoys.com/

my friend is selling his $1500 cannondale downhill bike, and ive talked him down to $400, its in great condition a little over a year old... i think im going to buy it

400$ sounds like a real snip :D

however it turns out, we all start somewhere. just so long as you're out there, riding. safely, of course.
