I trust you can help...custom bike
 

I desperately need help. I recieved a bike for a gift about a month ago. Custom black paint with a "Chivas Regal" decal down the sides and emblem or logo on the front. Short story is I received it as a gift from a liquor store I worked at, who in turn received it from on of their vendors. It came in the box unopened, and I was to assemble it. 2 days later they gave it to me still unassembled, without the box and all that I received with it was the "raleigh owners manual", which was really nothing more than a safety manual.

I spent hours on their site, downloaded catalogues, to no avail, and then finally called them. According to customer service the model # is not where they would expect to find it. I can't find one at all, and what appears to be a serial # (below the seat, above the rear tire,) a plate welded to the frame, is not where a Raleigh's would be.

This started because I wanted to register the bike. I called my local police station to find out how, they in turn said that would be of little use, but to instead take lots of pictures. None the less I still wanted to, which is why I went to the Raleighusa.com site. A phone call to a local Raleigh dealer with info over the phone still didn't help.

As yet I have no picts, so the best info I can provide is its a mountain bike (nobby tires), flat handle bar, 7 gears on left hand and 3 on right. It has a Shimano Tourney/SIS Index derailer, and Vuelta crank and seat. Front has shocks with chrome on top as it comes from the frame, and decals on each side of the front frame that says Soft Rock.

I am at a loss. I haven't ridden a bike in probably 30 years, and haven't driven for about the last 11. I know that you already know more than me, such is the reason I'm here...thank you.

What is the serial number

Ser# is almost always under the bottom bracket. That is between the cranks. Turn the bike upside down and use a flashlight as it may be burried under paint. You can often angle the light and manage to read it.
You should be able to call up a Raleigh dealer and get an owners pack from them, they are pretty generic.
If you want to put it together yourself, get one of the bike repair manuals, like the Park tool or Clymer. Be prepared to at least get some screwdrivers and an allen wrench set.

Serial # is as I can tell RD000137 this is again as I see it stamped on a plate welded to the frame above the rear tire, and below the seat. there are three small holes drilled in the plate in the shape of a triangle upside down. As far as the other post, the dealer that I had called in town, as well a the Raleigh customer service told me to do the same, and find it on the bottom of the bike/frame where the crank will go through...there is none.

Now what do I do?

I would guess that as a promotional bike, they'd use an M20 or something like that. Specs sound like a 90's m20 I have with the similar stuff on it.
