Its about that time.
Ok its about that time of the year or soon will be.
What is everyone's plan concerning their riding goal for the new year? How many centuries do you plan on riding in the new year, How many miles do you want to mark up on your odomoter, etc.. |
I'm going to train for hill climbing -- hitting a few here and there. This one looks especially promising:
http://www.majortaylorassociation.or...street05.shtml I'm also going to at least "consider" the Mt. Washington event as well. If not riding this year, then to attend and get the low down on it for next year. It's a brutal ride, so doing it in 2007 will give me 18 months of training (which is reasonable for a ride like that for a 50 year old!). Here's the link, but it looks like the server isn't responding at the moment: http://www.tinmtn.org/hillclimb/index.cfm |
Centuries are so overrated.
What really is impressive is a solid daily milage of at least 20 for 300 days a year. |
My goal is the same as it is every year, ride as much as possible and have fun doing it.

my goal this year: get the king of the mountain jersey from planet ultra! (they need to make a queen of the mountain one!) i'm going to set my goat at bikejournal at 5000... i don't plan to ride as much next year as i did this year! i need to remember that there really IS more to life than just the bike.... i learned that the hard way this year.. and actually have regrets for the number of hours i spent on the bike :( not regretting riding... just regretting how much time i spent and the things i "neglected".... i'd like to get faster.. not setting a century goal.. i'll do the centuries i want... not going to worry about a century a month or anything like that... centuries are a "funny" thing... you can do 50 of them in a year.. and someone else can do 10... but if those 50 are all flat... and the 10 all in involve 10,000+ of climbing... who really worked harder? i don't put much into the "i did X number of centuries" unless you include ALL the pertinent facts... i agree with the previous poster... sort of... the shorter rides.. IF more intense and with more climbing.. actually say a lot more than doing a lot of centuries! |
i want to start racing. That is my only goal.

if you do cool breeze as a double vice a century... watch out for the 10%+ hill... not sure where it is in the double.. but in the double metric it was around mile 100! lots of walkers on that one! (i'm not even gonna tease you about taking the century route back since it's the holidays and all!) i thought you were gonna do more mountain biking! we need to get together for a mtb ride! but ya gotta remember i'm still a mtb-ing beginner! (i go down hills slowly :( ) |
My number 1 goal is to stay alive... beyond that I'd like to qualify for the PBP, and become a better climber. I'm also aiming to clock up 15,000 km next year.
|
I was gonna say do a couple of centuries (I did my first last year) until a previous poster disrespected them. I suppose to the 1% of the population that's actually completed a century, they might seem overrated, but it's still an impressive achievement to the other 99%. But anyway...one of my goals is to start the season in better shape than I usually do by actually riding my trainer regularly.

My primary goal is to improve as a cyclist. I am hoping to get some top three finishes in sport class this year and hopefully improve enough to move up to expert for 2007. I would like to enter a few road races as well. I am also hoping to get in a minimum of 550 hours of total training time including gym time. Other than that I would like to get 4,500 miles, 1,000 more than this year.

Staying alive is defiately a goal I can live with.
